Supernatural detective Jack Nightingale used to be a police negotiator in a previous life—back in the days before he confronted devils and demons for a living.

So when a young woman embarks on a killing spree in a Houston mansion, Nightingale is the perfect choice to intervene.

But there is nothing that Nightingale can do to stop the slaughter. And there is worse to come. More killings. More bloodshed. More young women with murderous intentions.

The killings aren't random—a demon from Hell is orchestrating the massacres as part of a diabolical scheme. And the only way that Nightingale can stop the carnage is to put his own soul on the line.

Another solid performance by our hero “Jack Nightingale” with a bit of hell and Prosepine thrown in for good measure. Fantastic. More please Stephen.

Nightingale Strikes Again

You might argue that this was traditional Jack Nightingale fare. But this was in many ways the best of the stories so far.

Not as gory to start with as many of Mr. Leather’s other books but the finale comes in at number one in the gore stakes. Some nice twists some great characters and some sad sadness at losing one of the characters in particular. But I won’t go into too much detail. You need to read this novel to enjoy it.

The ending was superb and I’m very happy to see that there is yet another sequel which Stephen Leather has written this year. I will give it a few months before I embark upon reading it. It’s hard work because I always feel like I want more whenever I finish one of these Jack Nightingale books.

As always, Paul Thornley was a fantastic narrator and played the character voices spot on.

Bring on the next one !
