About this listen

I'd never even kissed a boy the night I met Stone. The night I saw him kill. The night he spared my life. That was only the beginning.

He turns up in my car again and again, dangerous and full of raw power. "Drive," he tells me, and I have no choice. He's a criminal with burning green eyes, invading my life and my dreams.

The police say he's dangerously obsessed with me, but I'm the one who can't stop thinking about him.

Maybe, it's wrong to let him touch me. Maybe, it's wrong to touch him back. Maybe, these twisted dates need to stop. Except, he feels like the only real thing in my world of designer labels and mansions. So, I drive us under threat, until it's hard to remember I don't want to be there. Until it's too late to turn back...

Hostage is a dangerous stand-alone romance by The New York Times best-selling authors Skye Warren and Annika Martin. It's set in the same world as Prisoner, but can be listened to separately!

"Deliciously sexy, emotionally gripping...Hostage rocked my whole world." (Marni Mann, author of Prisoned)

"Fast paced and oh so addicting!" (Rachel Van Dyken, number one The New York Times best-selling author)

If you could pick the perfect kind of listen for me, this would be it. Skye Warren and Annika Martin's collaborative series has me riveted to my ears, listening to this book. This story features Stone, one of the older boys in our Criminals and Captives series. When I started this listen, I figured it was going to be the typical bad guy captures girl and with a little Stockholm Syndrome, we would have the story. Boy was I wrong. Stone is a very complex man. Experiencing his childhood, what he endured, what he took on as his responsibility would mess anyone up. But somehow, this young man has a tender spot, and Brooke is the one that finds it. A chance meeting I would call it finds these two together, and from that point on, a slight obsession/loving relationship is formed over several years. The story behind them, and how it evolves is a masterpiece of thrilling suspense and had me up listening to the very end. I loved every minute of this story, it's depth, it characters, and the captivating tension all led me through and kept me on the edge. I just hope we see more by these two!

Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet are suited perfectly for this story. Morgan has an edginess for book like this, a little dark and a lot of suspense and his voice seems to meld to the characters. Sweet's young sound as Brooke made her. She brought the innocence out, but kept her real. I loved this team and this listen.

I preffered the first one but it wasn't a bad book either.
About the comment saying it's illegal, it's not (at least not in most occidental countries) but immoral I cannot deny ahah.

**Kind of a SPOILER**
They do not have sex before she's 18 if this can reassure some, but in general I wouldn't listen to this series if you're looking for morally correct books hihi.
A couple of years older would have been better for me, I don't see the imperative to have her that young, 18 instead of 16 would have been better for my taste so they are actually together once they are both in their 20s even if his closer to 30. I felt pretty uncomfortably when he was referring to her school uniform...
**END of spoilers**

Lauren Sweet voice was better for this character, I find it suits better a younger girl.
Jacob Morgan was amazing as always.

All together not a bad book by not a favourite of mine.

Not my favorite of the series

Hostage is the 2nd book in the Criminals and Captives series and I was hooked from start to finish. The story spans a few years but the tale that unfolds was a thrilling suspense with enough tension to keep me at the edge of my seat. The characters were so different yet so perfect for each other, you could easily feel the intense chemistry between them. They were well-developed complex individuals you will be rooting for throughout the story. This was an engaging story and I loved it. I would highly recommend it to all lovers of forbidden romances.

The audiobook version was narrated by Jacob Morgan and Lauren Sweet. These two were perfect choices for this role and did an excellent job with the characters giving them all their own voices and personality. I enjoyed listening to them narrate this story.

Wow! I absolutely loved Hostage! It had just the right amount of darkness in it. I didn't see how I was going to like Stone after the first few minutes of the story but it didn't take long for me to change my mind about him. He was so dark and damaged and his only focus was getting his revenge. Then Brooke came along and both of their worlds were turned upside down. This was one book that I never wanted to end. I've listened to several Skye Warren books and have loved them all. I've heard of Annika Martin but I've never read anything by her before, but I'm going to be stalking her now. If you love dark romance, then you will love this book.

I think Lauren Sweet did an amazing job narrating this book. She put a lot of emotion into the characters and gave them each their own voice. Jacob Morgan is one of my favorite narrators, and I love everything he does. His voice is perfection. I even love his female voice.

I don't normally do the good girl falls for bad boy trope. They feel a bit samey, but Skye Warren is an author on my 'must try' list so I gave it a go anyway.

This book is like that bad boy, like a huge bar of chocolate... you shouldn't want to want it but you can't help wanting more.

Some things that may tick your boxes:
MMC is very angsty and has a troubled past
FMC has uncomfortable relationship with her parents, who are trying to keep her a 'little gir'
MMC runs hot and cold
Dual POV
Emotionally high stakes

It was a good ending though :)

NB there is mention of past abuse, but minimal details are given and nothing of that nature happens on page
