Unsolved mysteries and true crime stories

I was given the book by the author for free for an honest review. I really enjoyed both books shocking unsolved murder's along with famous cases. Most of the information on the cases are available on the likes of Wikipedia, at times it seemed like the stories had used this information word for word, but I enjoyed listening to them instead of reading them myself. a definite must if you enjoy unsolved mysteries!

An interesting collection of true stories

I found this collection of short stories all the more interesting as some resonated a lot of familiarity for me. whether I had seen documentaries about the case on tv or read snippets of information from the internet in the past . All stories had been very well researched and were very detailed whilst keeping them short enough to keep the lostener/ reader engaged. I enjoyed every one of the immensely whilst some were very chilling they were all as equally enjoyable . The narration was clear and easy on your ears. I was given this book by the author/narrator in return for an honest and unbiased review

Interesting stories in a 2 set bundle.

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

This book goes over many interesting true crime stories and is made even better by the fact that you get two books for the same price. The stories are both well researched, and well-told witch contributes to the fact that these stories are genuinely shocking. For many a true crime fan, there will be tails that are known, and some that are not so well known, both of which are strange and quite scary adding to the horror of this book. This book is well worth a listen for both true crime fans, or if you just like being spooked, then this is most definitely worth a listen. The narrator did a great job, although at time it could come across slightly robotic, it didn't distract me from the book and I would definitely listen to more.

Good Colleciton of True Crime/Horror

A two part boxset about mysterious and real deaths/horror.
The first half was based more around supernatural and unexplained occurances, which was fascinating and some tales I had never heard of before. The second half was based more around real-life sociopaths and mass murderers. Interesting but there wasn't anything new there for me.
The narration itself felt a little rushed. There's barely a breath between one story to the next so the listener isn't given much time to digest one story before the next one is being told.

Good collection, great for fans of true crime.

Lots of good horror and paranormal stories

I’m mildly interested in true crime, thanks to my wife, but really enjoy strange and unsolved cases. Was a big fan of the TV show Unsolved Mysteries so this felt like a narrated version of that. Lots of weird things happening in these stories. As typical with collections like these some are well known and others are not. Each story is told quite well and provides all the relevant information and sent me off to read some more about some of the more interesting cases.

The first book in this two part set was really my favorite. The cases in this one seemed more bizarre and paranormal. The first book has a few possession stories which are by far my favorite. Speckled in between those stories were some of the more famous stories such as H.H. Holmes. The second book is full of stories of strange killers, bizarre disappearances, and weird happenings.

The narrator did a good job. Since this is told as a matter of fact story and doesn’t involve characters I was quite happy with the narration. I felt it worked quite well for this and have enjoyed his narration in the past and hope to hear more in the future.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

The stories are great but......

I love the stories but, the readers inflections, manner of reading are stilted and awkward. VERY distracting

Not what I was expecting

I thought from a glance at the title that it would contain a collection of standard horror stories. But, it contains real life stories of horrific events which is actually scarier. The book was well read by the narrator and well written by the author.

These are trues stories of Horror and Murder

Mrs. Tidy has definitely shown that she researches her work to ensure accurate accounting of these sometimes horrific and other times just plain odd stories. I was so taken by the chosen tales that I researched the stories laid out by the author. I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of embellishment on the terrifying tales contained inside. While I do love these collections of unsolved cases I can honestly say I am looking forward to future original work from this author. My only issue was with the audio work of Martin James as it came across as a little lifeless at time.

Real Horror is Just as Horrific

This two book set offers a multitude of spine chilling tales of real horror and true crime from various sources. None really stood out but they were interesting bits and pieces of stories. Enough details to keep it interesting and disturbing. Definitely recommend.

Not scary at all - more like newspaper stories

Although the some of the stories were unnerving they were not at all scary. It was like listening to the ABC show 20/20 or Unsolved Mysteries. There are straight up murders by home invaders and some supernatural ones, such as the first exorcism. Unfortunately, each one of them read like a detailed news story. The narrator did a fine job and kept me listening but I was looking for something much more scary.

Truly terrifying tales

Horror Stories is a truly horrific book about gruesome tales of crime and the paranormal. The fact that these stories are true is cringe worthy some of the tales are a enough to give you nightmares. I think this book is amazing but wow I would hate to have been the one investigating these crimes. I highly recommend this book if you are a true crime buff.
