Now a major Hollywood film starring Daniel Radcliffe: read it first, if you dare...

Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with one hell of a hangover, a raging headache... and a pair of horns growing from his temples.

Once, Ig lived the life of the blessed: born into privilege, the second son of a renowned American musician, and the younger brother of a rising late-night TV star, Ig had security and wealth and a place in his community. Ig had it all, and more - he had the love of Merrin Williams, a love founded on shared daydreams, mutual daring, and unlikely midsummer magic.

Then beautiful, vivacious Merrin was gone - raped and murdered, under inexplicable circumstances - with Ig the only suspect. He was never tried for the crime, but in the court of public opinion, Ig was and always would be guilty.

Now Ig is possessed with a terrible new power - with just a touch he can see people's darkest desires - to go with his terrible new look, and he means to use it to find the man who killed Merrin and destroyed his life. Being good and praying for the best got him nowhere. It's time for a little revenge; it's time the devil had his due.

I've read it a few times over the years and each time I come out of the experience having a completely new interpretation. Out of everything he's written, from his numerous short stories to his novels to his comics, it's Horns I always circle back to.
Horns was a terrific read which helps to bolster Joe Hill's already high status in my personal pantheon of storytellers/writers.
After you've watched the movie, I'd whole heartedly recommend checking out the novel, its well worth the read.
An instant classic, Horns commands the reader's attention from the first page to the last and serves as an excellent starting point for Joe Hill virgins. I, for one, can't wait to see the film adaptation, despite the fact that the Ig in my head bears no resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe. This is a must-read, if you haven't already, and well worth a revisit if you have.
On the whole, I really enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to anyone. It is wretched, witty, and enthralling. The writing is clever and masterful, despite the few faults I had. I think that if you are of a sensitive or conservative disposition, it might not be the book for you. It is a tragic love story, a murder mystery, and a supernatural fantasy with a dash of theological satire to sweeten the deal.
Horns is pretty damn awesome. I have read my fair share of supernatural trhillers over the years but with Horns Joe Hill introduces something not seen before, it's not a complete embodient of the devil but holds in the lines. A perfect story that will creep you out and play with your emotions. And at the heart of it all yes a love story, gone wrong.

Would you consider the audio edition of Horns to be better than the print version?

The audiobook version of this story is great as Fred Berman brings all of the characters to life, as for is it better than the print version I'm not sure as I have enjoyed both

What did you like best about this story?

This story is very compelling but also what makes it really stand out is it's humour, Ig especially and to a lesser extent Merron's dad.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I would have like to listen to this in one sitting but at over thirteen hours it was just not possible.

Any additional comments?

Great story, brilliantly read... all in all a really enjoyable book.

I have to admit when I first started listening to this book I was unsure to whether I was going to like the story or not. Saying that, as the story progress I really started to enjoyed and wanted to know where this was going to lead. I want to listen to it again as I feel it's one of those books that you pick up something different the second time round. Rather a dark story but it's one of the reasons I enjoyed it. This author also allows you to make up your own mind about what goes on with each character. Worth a read.

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed this story. I hadn't heard of the film when I downloaded this so was going at it with no preconceptions.

However, as much as I liked the story, I couldn't enjoy the experience due to the narrator. Thought he was terrible.

Great story - couldn't enjoy it

I didn’t expect to enjoy this title as much as I did. Twists keep you entertained and the narrator does an excellent job. Easy to listen to and moves at a good pace.

Surprisingly enjoyable
