Summary
A time-traveling, futuristic saga of a family trying to outlast and remake a universe with a power unlike any we’ve seen before
When Raisa Hopeland, determined to win her race to become the next electromancer of London, bumps into Amon Brightbourne―tweed-suited, otherworldly, guided by the Grace―in the middle of a London riot, she sets in motion a series of events which will span decades, continents, and a series of events which will change the world.
From rioting London to geothermal Iceland to the climate-struck islands of Polynesia, from birth to life to death, from tranquility to terror to joy, Raisa’s journey will encompass the world. But one thing will always be true.
Hopeland is family―and family is dangerous.

Confusing but enthralling
Firstly, narration excellent. It kept me going, where in a written book I may have been tempted to skim a section here or there. The story is good, and engaging, but subtle, with not so much a plot as a gentle narrative flow. I spent the first three hours wondering what was going on but happy to go with it. Ultimately it all made sense, and I'm glad I stuck with it.

Stunning, addictive and thought provoking
Perfect narration and a truly engrossing story. Written in the present tense, a lot of the narrative comes across almost poetic at times. This one is for his longer term fans, perhaps. If you loved Hearts Hands and Voices, or still catch yourself thinking about Desolation Road and Ares Express decades after reading them, then this book will be a real treat for you.

Tea
Not my cup of tea, very tedious and not really the kind of time travel I thought it would be.
