Love Ruth’s narrations. Great character voices and love her Scottish accent. One of my favorites in the genre.
The book was great, predictable, which I believe common in the genre, but great non the less. Love the spirited head strong female protagonists that aren’t afraid to speak out of turn. 🥰🥰
I think it must hard to cater to the modern audience while still being somewhat true to the era, considering the way women was treated in the portrayed day and age but felt it was neatly done. Having the male lead being respectful towards women while the story and the characters still frequently acted with the “men-take-what-they-want” mentality that the time period was about, could have tipped too much the one way or the other but felt very well balanced.

Can truly recommend this read to anyone who likes headstrong women, a big strong considerate man a little bit excitement and danger and truly amazing narration.

I loved this story, the accents were excellent and I loved the characters there strength and love for each other was captivating. Excellent narration, highly recommend listening.

For the love of all that is merciful... why on earth do female writers insist on making their heroines TEENAGERS?!?!

What kind of creepy paedo fetish are they trying to nourish?!?

Christ almighty... & the author couldn't even make her at the very least 18 or even more preferably 19... no, she's SEVENTEEN... a child & he's in his 30s!

& what kind of nonsense is this about needing to see a woman's breasts to know her age?!?

I had DDs by the time I was 13 & in no way a woman, but many men thought I was older & let's just say that escaping sexual harassment became a daily occurrence... so for the love of ALL that is merciful ... do NOT try to age a woman by her breasts... they're NOT rings on a tree trunk!

& even worse... that any woman would try to condone such actions, pass them off as romantic or even write them as appealing... take it from someone who knows... it is not even remotely appealing!

DNF!
