Summary

“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good. And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”

Leo Miles came home broken - wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and he hasn’t left his family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but the way he looks now, he prefers to stay hidden.

His only reprieve is her voice. He puts on his headset, logs in to his game, and she’s there. They talk while they play, sharing everything but personal details. She’s his best friend - his happy place - even though he doesn’t know her real name.

Until one day, he hears a voice he recognizes.

Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks the reclusive Leo’s world. And discovering she’s in trouble - serious trouble - changes everything.

Hannah is Leo’s every fantasy come true, and the badass gamer girl is determined to break through his defenses. But between the mess that is his life and the threats to his family’s safety, he can’t be anyone’s hero. Least of all hers.

But maybe they both need saving.

Author’s note: A wounded hero who’ll squeeze your heart. A girl in trouble. And the family who won’t let either of them down.

The Miles Family is best enjoyed in order.

Loving the Miles family

Amazing story

This story pulls at your heart as this is Leo's book. After been injured in service he returned home to heal and hasn't left at all. He's the computer expert and serious gamer, he also fixes all the winery I.T problems. Hes just finishing fixing a problem when he hears a laugh he recognises Giggs? She can't be here?
Hannah can't believe how drawn she is to the man in the shadows he makes her feel alive & safe something Jason doesn't and hasn't despite been a police officer. When things get tough she runs but isn't surprised to find where she ends up. Things at the winery are still not settled fully and life is about to change. A wonderful compassionate story that really pulls you in.

Broken and Whole

Oh Leo Miles, how I have wanted for your story from the moment I met you in Broken Miles. I was pretty much obsessed with this audiobook right from the start and I couldn't wait to finally find out more about the reclusive Miles brother. This was an emotional story that addressed some very serious topics, but I felt that Claire Kingsley balanced it all very well with humor and heart. This is the 4th book in the Miles family series and would best be enjoyed if read in order.

I loved the relationship that blossomed between Hannah and Leo. Even though there is a degree of instalove, Leo and Hannah already knew each other for several years thanks to their shared love of online gaming, so it felt more like a friends to lovers situation to me. Their sexual chemistry was scorching hot and let's just say bedroom Leo was quite the delicious surprise. There is some drama late in the book, but it was understandable given their histories and it was resolved fairly quickly. I appreciated that Leo's demons didn't magically disappear and that it was something he was working towards for himself and those that love him. The epilogue and bonus epilogue were exactly what my heart needed more of - swoons and laughs. Catching up with the entire Miles family and finally getting a resolution to their family drama was also very satisfying. It was a great thread to carry throughout all the books, and though it all finished up a little too conveniently and neatly, I thought it was a fitting conclusion to that story line. I'm looking forward to Ben and Shannon's story next, now that they finally have the green light.

Samantha Cooke was wonderful as Hannah, but it was Teddy Hamilton who really stole the show on this audiobook. He was perfect as broody and alpha Leo, but also showed his vulnerable side so well during the more emotional scenes. I have enjoyed this series so much on audio and definitely recommend it!

Team Leo All The Way

Its no secret that Claire Kingsley is one of my favorite authors. And I have loved every book in the Miles Family series. But I was REALLY anticipating Leo’s story the most. What made him tick? We knew he was an injured war vet, but what had happened? Would he ever leave the family’s winery?

Outside of his family, the only person Leo socializes with is his online gaming buddy, Gigz. Needless to say, he’s shocked when he hears her voice at a wedding reception being held at the family winery. He’s even more shocked when Gigz later tells him that she had an intense reaction to a Beast-like guy she saw at the winery. But Leo is so stunned that she found him attractive, the poor guy can’t speak up. The scene where he talks to Cooper is so sweet, my heart ached for Leo!

When fate intervenes and puts Hannah back at The winery, it’s hysterical that Coop is the one she runs into first. But it’s not a happily ever after for Leo and Hannah, because girlfriend has major situation she needs to extract herself from. With Leo’s help, she does... and the former soldier gets to play hero in the best possible way. With his awesome brothers behind him, naturally!

I love the slow burn between Hannah and Leo after that, once they become roommates. He is so tortured, and doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. Hannah breaks down all of his defenses, little by little, and brings Leo out of the darkness. In more ways than one. They are so perfectly matched, and I was so happy to see Leo step out of the shadows (not just with Hannah, but to protect his family as well) and get a well-deserved HEA.

Hidden Miles was everything I wanted to see happen for also, and more. All of my questions about Leo’s past were answered, and the throughline story of father Lawrence and what he’s done to the family was wrapped up in an awesome way. I’m so glad that Claire is kicking off her next series with half-sister Grace and giving Ben and Sharon a story, because I don’t want to say goodbye to this wacky family!

Performance-wise, this is the first book I've listened to by Samantha Cooke, and she did a great job as Hannah. But Teddy Hamilton blew me away. He is my favorite male narrator, and he embodied everything I imagined about Leo. All the pain, the tortured soul, the PTSD... Teddy brought it all to life. From every shaken breath to every confession of love, the guy nailed the part.

A great audiobook!

I have loved reading the Miles Family series and I have been looking forward to Leo's story since the beginning. I knew I would enjoy the book, but it was even better than I expected.

Leo and Hannah don't meet in a traditional way. They connect and communicate via an online game. When they finally meet in person there is a lot each is dealing with. Claire Kingsley did an excellent job developing their friendship so there was a real connection between them when Hannah arrives at the winery. It made their romance even better and I loved seeing them grow individually and together.

It was also a treat getting to see the rest of the Miles family, too. This series has been about familial bonds just as much as it's been about romantic relationships. I definitely recommend reading the entire series as there are threads that carry through from book to book.

Of course, I have to mention how much I loved getting to listen to the audiobook. Teddy Hamilton is one of my favorite narrators and he was perfect for Leo. This was my first time hearing Samantha Cooke, but I enjoyed her narration as well.

Just better and better

This is the 4th book in the miles series. This is the one I was waiting for i just figured Leo story had to be good and was it was awesome she did not disappoint me at all i was sitting on the edge of my chair with what was going to happen next it was just a great story. This whole series has just been phenomenal. I'm sad that I only have one more book left. The narrators of course did an excellent job but I would expect nothing but that from Teddy and Samantha.

Leo is my favorite Miles brother

Leo Miles is a wounded military man who comes home with both visible and invisible damage. Despite his struggles, Leo is still a protective son and brother. Hannah has visible and invisible wounds of her own. She escapes from an abusive relationship and ends up at the winery with Leo. I enjoyed reading/listening about their relationship and how they overcame each difficulty individually and together.

I think all of us have visible and invisible wounds. I found this story inspiring as far as how each main character overcame previous wounds and new challenges.

The narration was really good. I enjoy both of these narrators.

Love Leo!

Man, if you give me Teddy Hamilton, I'll listen to just about anything.
But if you give me Teddy narrating a Claire Kingsley book...you can't take my money fast enough!

If I thought I wanted Coop's story, it was nothing compared to how much I wanted to see the quiet, silent, scarred Leo find love.

I really wanted to see how he would be brought out of his shell, but more than that, I needed to know WHO could do it.

And now I have the answers to both of those questions.

I am so happy and full of love for this couple. You'll love them too. Every Miles member deserves an HEA and our broody Leo finally has his.

Oh, Leo....I fell in love all over again!

I honestly didn't think I could love Leo's story any more than I did after reading it and then I listened to it and Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Cooke made me fall in love with Leo and Hannah all over again.

Hannah is the perfect woman for Leo. She is an online gamer, has the ability to calm his PTSD and provide the peace and comfort he wasn't even aware that he was seeking. Leo in turn is the protector Hannah didn't know she needed....her knight in shining armor.

Leo is a wounded war vet who has become somewhat of a recluse but is able to be himself when online gaming and that is where he first "met" Hannah some years back but he only knows her by Giggz until a chance sighting at a wedding on his family's land. He knows the minute he hears her voice that Hannah is Giggz. He has a mild freak out moment and flees back to his cottage. Once calming down he heads back to the big house and sees her once again and actually making eye contact with her this time before disappearing.

Hannah doesn't understand the reaction she has from locking eyes with the dark stranger and then soon finds out it was Leo, He saves her from her abusive boyfriend and takes her back to Salishan to recoup. Along the way she brings him out of his shell and love ensues. Of course, it wouldn't be a Claire Kingsley story if there wasn't a tiny little speed bump on the road to their HEA but they eventually do get there. This is hands down my favorite Miles book!

My Favorite Miles Book!

Leo Miles is the book I was waiting for the most, you do have to read the other books to really appreciate it. I wasn't sure how it was going to play out with meeting anyone and how any of this was going to work as he hasn't left his families land in about 5 years and will not talk to anyone but his family. And it was written so perfectly. Leo had gotten burns up and down one side of his body while deployed in the military and now has PTSD as well as an issue with people staring at him, which they do a lot. Leo is into gaming and is best friends in the game world with a girl named Gigz (they only know their gamer names). One day while at work he walks by a wedding reception and hears a voice he would know anywhere, they have a moment of where they both see each other and then Leo walks away. Some other important events happen that I will not spoil, and Hannah finds herself living with Leo. Hannah is very attracted to Leo and their bond from gaming from years makes her so easy for Leo to open up too. The way that these two are so protective of each other and Hannah knows exactly how to push Leo into moving out of his comfort zone with nothing but support was so sweet. There were some twists and unexpected surprises that keep you on your toes the entire time. Cooper is still my favorite brother, but oh man this is by far my favorite of the books.
