Story
Joseph Lake doesn’t know who he is or where he came from, but he’s beginning to think that the answer might be the death of him. By day, Joseph scrubs toilets and fixes broken light fittings, by night he looks into weird stuff: Local hauntings, unexplained disappearances, satanic cabals dancing naked around ancient stone circles. The usual. The uncanny calls to him like a beacon, and he follows its signal wherever it leads, hoping that one day it will shine a light on who he really is.

Once, there was magic in London, but when a monster made of hunger came to devour it all, the Uncanny were forced to abandon their home. And so they fled to Other London, a secret city adjacent to their own, and there they hid, barricaded and isolated from the rest of the world. For 200 years, the people of Other London have cowered behind closed doors. No one can get in, and no one can get out. Until, one day, the impossible happens: Someone from outside finds their way into the hidden city.

A weekly newspaper dedicated to the weird and the wonderful (but mostly the weird), The Stranger Times is the go-to publication for the unexplained and inexplicable. At least that's their pitch. The reality is rather less auspicious. Their editor is a drunken, foul-tempered and foul-mouthed husk of a man who thinks little of the publication he edits. His staff are a ragtag group of misfits. And as for the assistant editor...well, that job is a revolving door - and it has just revolved to reveal Hannah Willis, who's got problems of her own.

The London Silver Vaults - for well over a century, the largest collection of silver for sale in the world. It has more locks than the Bank of England and more cameras than a celebrity punch-up. Not somewhere you can murder someone and vanish without a trace - only that's what happened. The disappearing act, the reports of a blinding flash of light and memory loss amongst the witnesses all make this a case for Detective Constable Peter Grant and the Special Assessment Unit.

Show me an amateur conjurer, and I'll stop him before he gets himself killed. That's the idea, anyway. But New York City isn't what it used to be, and I don't mean the recent crash. Amateur casters are calling up creatures they shouldn't be able to. And there's been a murder at the city's most hallowed cathedral, a message in blood on the victim's back the NYPD wants me to interpret, like yesterday.

My name is Ethan Drake and I’m a police detective...and I got plenty darkness to give.So does my partner, who’s a demon, and frankly, a royal pain in my ass. But occult investigators are in short supply in the PD, so what are you going to do? Anyway, we just caught a body-snatching case that has the stench of occult workings all over it. Seems someone wants to summon something bad into this world, something that threatens the very fate of humanity. I could care less about the fate of humanity myself, but hey, when it’s your job, you gotta do something, right?

Summary
Detective Rita Hobbes’ life has been mysteriously erased, and her day isn’t about to get any better.
All Rita wants is to abandon dreary Blackpool and start over somewhere new. But when she triggers a magical hex that renders her invisible and traps her in her hometown, escape seems impossible.
Rita soon finds that Blackpool has some hidden secrets: a fallen angel buried beneath the sea in a glass prison, bloodthirsty werewolves, and living nightmares dressed in fine suits and animal masks that can turn your mind to soup.
Thrust into a world she doesn’t understand, Rita finds herself trying to solve cases that are, by any sane measure, unsolvable. Worse still, the only person she can turn to for help is a self-confessed liar, cheat, and - according to him - the future king of Great Britain.

3 Audible books in one
The MC Joseph Lake is a gentle, unassuming, simple man who just wants to know his past.
Eva Familiar is a Familiar that has a filthy mouth, nothing good to say about Joseph, and a alcoholic. These two together are trying to protect the Lake area and fight the good fight.
I have listened to several other Uncanny Kingdom books and this collection is OK, but not one of the better ones. Narrator does a good job with the characters voices and the entire storyline.
