About this listen

A thousand years ago, humanity’s greatest heroes killed God.

Now, under the brutal rule of warrior-kings, the land of Helesia has fallen to chaos. Demons stalk the deep forests, monsters roam free of their prisons beneath the World Vein, and ancient terrors rise again.

History is written in blood, but the future will be forged in holy fire…

Renira Washer lives the dreary life of a laundry girl, dreaming of adventure. When a stranger from her mother’s past appears with a dire warning, Renira’s peaceful life is shattered and she’s thrown headfirst into a millennia old war between Heaven and earth. In Renira’s blood, hides a secret: the angels are not all gone.

Only the Herald can ring in the Fifth Age.

Only the Herald can bring the God back to life.

A new epic fantasy saga, where humans can steal magic and immortality by devouring angels, starts here with HERALD. Perfect for fans of Brandon Sanderson, John Gwynne, or Ryan Cahill.

If Rob. J. Hayes isn't already your favourite author prepare yourself to have a whole catalogue of books to enjoy. Herald absolutely stacked up to my expectations and then some more. I don't think you could predict where this story would go by the ending of this book after where it started, and the journey to get there was a wild ride. Hayes character and world building, as ever, we're outstanding. The 'magic' system, along with how it is acquired, and the angels were all very unique and very enjoyable to learn about along the way.

I have to mention that the narration was great. Every character got a truly unique voice and it really helped bring them to life even more.

I'm jumping straight on to the next book in the series. Rob J Hayes honestly is my favourite author and I highly recommend this, and all the rest of his books! (Especially War Eteral series and Titan Hoppers).

Amazing storytelling and world building

totally out of proportions , completely childish and disturbingly incorrectly portraying men as dull bad and half witted creatures .
story over stretched, actio scenes disrupted by description of clothing....
Teen book and poor one on that. Very American style of writing.

boring, patronising, stereotypical fem dom fantasy
