Great Story....let down by Narration

If you could sum up Hell's Knights in three words, what would they be?

Hard Knock Life!

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the MC were always there for each other, and ultimately for Addison, even when she behaved like a whiny child!

How could the performance have been better?

A different narrator. I found Carly Robbins whiny, upward inflections so annoying that I stopped listening several times. In fact, I wish they would re-record this with a different narrator...Andi Arndt, Kate Russell, Joy Nash or Stella Bloom would have all been brilliant as the narrator.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not, really. But I think it was the narration...it just put me off so much!

Any additional comments?

A really, gritty story. Lots of misunderstandings.... but an ultimately HEA for most of the characters ;)

What did I just listen to?

I don't usually write reviews on books but I felt it was necessary to write one for this book. The narration for Addison was alright but when Carly tried to do a mans voice it just sounded all wrong. She made Cade sound like he was from Louisiana and Texas in different parts of the book and it was kind of annoying. It just wasn't consistent. Also throughout the book Addison says she wasn't running from her past and she didn't need help but that's exactly what she was seeking out. The guys in the MC are just looking out for her and she completely disregards them. The h was just flip flopping and basically being a hypocrite the whole story.

This isn't the typical MC story where you have a tough biker falling in love with the Presidents daughter, it is not fun to read/listen to. It didn't have any light sides to it. Usually the story has a character to lighten the mood a smidge but not here at all. The H/h were both annoying and to mean to each other. Typically in romance I want the couple to actually like each other. Yeah I get its cool to have them bicker a bit, and that's cute and all but these characters were just annoying. To be honest it was just a big disappointment.

Enjoyable, but...

I love a good MC Book. This is definitely a traditional MC book. Its got the traditional storyline of bad ass biker who is actually a softie when it comes to his long lost daughter. There is also some "insta love" happening. Its just REALLY hard for me to get completely lost in a audiobook when the Alpha male is read by a female narrator. There are very very few female narrators who can make me forget that they are a female narrator when reading the male characters. I know its more expensive for the author/publisher, but I would prefer it if there were 2 narrators. I would actually be wiling to pay more for the audiobook if that were needed.

Entertaining

I wouldn't say that this was a gritty, hard core, intense biker book. It seemed more stereotypical than real.

THAT BEING SAID... it was entertaining. I enjoyed listening to it and even tho I throughout a few eye rolls, for the most part... I just had a good time listening. The narrator was great, she pulled off the male voices more easily than most although I would have rather this been a dual narration because there are specific chapters by Kade.

If you have the money or a credit to spare and are looking for an easy listen, this will be a good one.

Story was okay....Narrator is awful....

Would you try another book from Bella Jewel and/or Carly Robins?

I may have to read the ebook if Carly Robins has anything to do with the next one.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I liked the relationship with Addison and her dad.

Would you be willing to try another one of Carly Robins’s performances?

Not if I have a choice...she's makes the book hard to listen too.

Do you think Hell’s Knights needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Still on the fence making a decision on a follow up....

Good in parts, over the top in other parts.

Love alpha males so I enjoyed this story but the heroine was immature and annoying. The narrator needs to
go!

3 stars is generous for this MC book .....

I really love this author.

Narration is terrible. Perhaps its what ruined the book for me.

That being said I was excited to see that she wrote an MC book. For some reason this book was just average for me. This book is brutal to the heroine (Addison) who has survived more than her share of atrocities that began early in life. Addison was raised in a brutal environment which follows her until her mother's death. She finds her way to her estranged father who is the president of an MC. She meets an unlikely hero, Cade VP of her father's MC. Things transpire from there.

The narration was terrible. Yes I stated it again. It was worth stating again.

This is not worth a credit, but worth a sale.

Struggled to finish the story

Struggled to finish! Addison and/or the narrator was OVERLY DRAMATIC! The whole "tough" and "stubborn" attitude that Addison has is annoying. And she is extremely immature! She says multiple times she wants her freedom and she won't be controlled but then says she loves Cade's dominance. I rolled my eyes so many times throughout the story that I got dizzy.

Where do I even start

Sigh...can’t believe I made it to the end. If the author was trying to create a strong female lead she missed the mark. She certainly wasn’t the brightest. She goes to her father for protection but then gets all upset when they try to protect her. She put herself in danger every chance she could just to “prove” she could not be controlled. It never worked out for her though every time she did it it was a huge mistake. Why did she go to the MC in the first place if she was constantly sneaking away just to put herself in more danger. Then, they would threaten and say don’t ever do that again and two pages later she’s doing it again. Ugh!!!! It never was the right decision. If you want to create a strong female lead who knows what’s best...have it work out for her or she just looks stupid. The whole story was ridiculous.

Great writing

Great story and characters. Well written. Lots of drama.

WARNING: many scenes with references to rape.

Good narration.

Hot, hot, hot sexy times between the main characters.

My only criticism is the over-the-top childish behaviour of the main female character in several scenes. Tantrums like a two-year-old. Ignoring advice that could save your life just to be stubborn. A pet peeve of mine in this genre.

Narrator is terrible!

I couldn't even make it passed the 1st chapter. Her voice made me cringe. As much as I tried focusing on what she said and not how she said it, I just couldn't. I ended up buying the book paperback. I will never buy any book she narrates again, her voice is unbearable.
