Good introduction to a new series

Another Urban Fantasy novel centred around the role of Private Investigator would seem to be fairly unoriginal, but it mostly works due to the varied cast which isn't focused on the more usual supernatural creatures. The story is entertaining enough and serves to introduce this cast of characters very well, thus providing a good foundation for future books in the series.

The narrator's tone seemed a little too subdued and probably didn't enhance the overall story as much as possible, but she did do a good job with making the characters distinctive enough.

Overall, a quick and entertaining listen that makes me interested in subsequent books in the series.

Hekate's Chalice

“I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.”

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started listening to this book but the characters pulled me right in. JB takes over the business for his dad and everyone that works there has something "special" about them. I loved the characters, they are humorous and it has a great plot. If all of the books are like this one...the series is going to be a great read!

Magick and Mayhem with Fairies

Loved this book. At first I wasn’t sure but now I know it was setting up the world and characters for stories in the future. I loved the group. The narrator was slightly annoying with the fairy’s voice but, hey, what does a fairy sound like? She had a good fairy voice. I set my audible speed higher so it helped. It would be so much fun to work for this group. This book was good, but I feel like each one will get even better.

Short Detective/Faerie Fantasy

The premise of this series sounded better than the outcome. Not that it's bad, it just seemed to be more of a faerie fantasy story than a detective story. The faeries seemed to take priority in the story more than JB, the detective.
The main premise is that Hekate's chalice has been stolen, and she hires JB and his cohorts to find it in less than 24 hours.
There are now 3 books in this series, and it gets better by the third one. Kearney finds a groove with the characters and stories, so I forgive him for a bit of a rough beginning.
However, I can't say the same for narrator Elisabeth Lagelee. I'm sorry to say, but she was terrible. Her voice was very monotone when narrating, a little high for female characters and kind of huffed up, yet flat for the male characters. I had to listen to this twice to really get the story because she was difficult to pay attention to and I found my mind wandering.

Short and Sweet

Good story with a really good pace. Always like hearing a different spin on the supernatural detective world. Only thing I would have done differently is had a male narrator. Lagelee was really good, but when the main character is male, I prefer to hear a more natural voice throughout most of the book. All in all a good listen!

Interesting Story, Narrator not a great fit

The main story of the Hecate's Chalice was good and an interesting start to the series. The author does a great job in introducing all the characters and the main character's situation. The story had a great flow and did not slow down. My only issue is the narrator. She was not necessarily bad, she just did not feel like she fit. It is hard to explain but it just made the book harder to listen to.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and I am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Fun and Entertaining!

This was my first Teagan Kearney's book. This is the first book in the Adept Solutions Series. This short story is fun, intriguing, action packed, and suspenseful. Elisabeth Lagelee did a good job with the narration. This was a fun listen. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review.

Fantasy Private I Mystery

This one was a fun and interesting mix of genres, it's a PI mystery with a huge dose of fantasy characters... Everything from demons, fairies, witches, sirens and more. It does work and turned out to be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to the next one in the series. On a morality rating there is some language but otherwise was pretty clean. It is geared toward the teen to YA readers. The narrator did a good job, I just felt she went a bit monotone in several places.
