Summary

Clemmie has a problem: she's had almost as many jobs as she's had birthdays, and her love life is on the critical list. But with the big 3-0 looming, she's determined to transform herself from unemployed singleton to loved-up success.

Trouble is, Clemmie's dream job would be working for local entrepreneur Guy Devlin, owner of the famous pyrotechnics company, The Gunpowder Plot. He'd also be high on her list of candidates for significant other.

But Guy has a veritable cargo-hold of baggage - an avaricious ex-wife and a host of monster ex-step children. He's not even looking for an assistant. And if he was, a quirky amateur firework maker with a penchant for cream cakes and big explosions wouldn't be high on his list..

Heaven Sent

Just love Christina Jones books. I drive a lot and listen to books. I would love to see all her books on audible. The narrator for this book was perfect.

Heavenly listen

Christina Jones is one of my favourite authors having discovered one of her other titles 'Tickled Pink' on audio elsewhere I was very happy to find 4 of her other titles listed on Audible.
If you like a little bit of fictional fantasy mixed with magical mishaps give Heaven Sent a listen and catch up with the quirky characters Christina has created as they intertwine their lives, loves and magical goings on…
There are several other great titles by the same author Audible does not have listed so I hope that with a little bit of a cosmic hint more will appear in the listings very soon….
Absolutely worth a listen so 5 stars for the wonderful Christina Jones.

Heaven Sent by Christina Jones

What did you like about this audiobook?

This was the first book I've read by this author but certainly won't be the last. I found the story unique and was sorry when it ended. The plot is gunpowder....fireworks to be precise and the insight into the subject was amazing. Also the plot included an unusual pet which I loved. Looking forward to the next one.....

How has the book increased your interest in the subject matter?

By introducing me into how well planned the performances at fireworks displays have to be and the differences between the fireworks themselves

Does the author present information in a way that is interesting and insightful, and if so, how does he achieve this?

Very interesrting and insightful. As this was a new subject to me I was impressed at the knowledge of the writer

What did you find wrong about the narrator's performance?

Nothing

Do you have any additional comments?

A very rich book with many different layers

Christina Jones tends to play with the themes of magic and spells running through her story lines. Strange things always happen in her stories, when ancient recipes evoke old magic and latent powers are evoked by these.

So the rich layers in Heaven Sent, even in the title there are many layers of things within the book that could be said to be Heaven Sent, so maybe this in itself is an intentional play on words. The workings of Clemie's heart plays a major part of this book and there are a few surprises in the plot that I didn't expect. If you like a bit of animal interest that's in here too in the shape of a most unusual house pet. Next layers of science intermingle with the occult, although naturally it's all harmless and in the right hands.

Here, a rare thing occurs, when the fireworks side of science becomes down to earth while ancient wisdom and wishes combine at the same time. Interesting!
