Summary

Haunt is a tripping-balls Los Angeles noir, where a mysterious dame drags you through a time-warping bizarro hall of mirrors. She's the girl of your dreams - too bad she's dead. Or, is she?

In Haunt, "you" are the hapless corporate tool and rock star wannabe turned private dick. Here, even your most inconsequential choices can make all the difference between a Hollywood ending on the beach and sucking cock for clues.

This is genial lowbrow high-lit weirdness: the funny, punchy cousin of Danielewski's House of Leaves, a Vonnegut and Salinger paté on a choose-your-own cracker, with a lap dance from Nancy Drew. As much fun to make as it is to eat! Laura Lee Bahr is an award-winning indie actor/playwright/screenwriter with a gift for the hilariously, tragically absurd. Haunt is her first novel.

A page turner of a ghost story

Where does Haunt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This novel is also all about Los Angeles' and it's quirky landscapes: roads, cars, psychics and star wannabes. Excellent book. I can't wait to see what Laura Lee does next. It's a facinatingly different well written piece of art. Very good and one of the best.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Haunt?

It's unlike anything I've ever experienced. Not just the story itself, which is brilliant, but the way it's told is so unique. Some of it is in third person, some in second person ("You" are one of the characters) and the narrator has such an original voice. And it fits together beautifully. Outstanding!

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Great voice!! The narrator paces the book well and draws you into this very unique book.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

“You” work at an office job with a girl who you doesn’t realize is dead and haunting your apartment. Welcome to LA.
