Summary

Available for the first time as an audiobook, New York Times best-selling author Eric Jerome Dickey’s thrilling short story Harlem.

“People called me Harlem. I dubbed myself after that dangerous neighborhood that I’d never seen. I read life is rough in Harlem, and a Black man isn’t expected to live to see 25. I was 23. The clock was ticking.”

When Harlem gets off on a murder charge due to insanity, the asylum he’s sent to feels worse than death, with one exception: the beautiful Nurse Daphane. As their relationship grows, so do the stakes: She has the ability to help him escape, and he has the ability to set her free from her abusive relationship. Yet Harlem has one big secret: He was perfectly sane when he committed his crime. But in the end, Daphane’s own secret may be the deadliest of all....

Not worth it

Wasn’t feeling the crazy aspect of the narration. Upset that I wasted a credit on this

Short But Good!!!

Harlem was short but, very good. It ended how I pretty much thought it would. I knew Daphne was playing him but, I didn't expect her to be the murder victim's wife and I definitely wasn't expecting Phyllis to be her partner in crime. That was an unexpected plot twist. I get that Harlem was a bad guy but, I was honestly hoping he found a way to murder those backstabbin' heffas. I was rootin' for you Harlem!

Nothing like Eric Jerome Dickey.

I couldn't finish and that's bad because this was extremely short. I'm so disappointed.

Twistedly intriguing

It never ceases to amaze me how EJD is able to make you feel sorry for the main characters especially when they are villainous murders. I always end up rooting for them to get away with their crimes!! Loved the ending of this one you would want retribution to be so sweet, however in the end or only leaves crazier then where you started from.
