About this listen

The gripping sequel to the best-selling family saga Hardacre. Hardacre's Luck follows the triumphs and tragedies of the next generation of the Hardacre family in 1950s Yorkshire and London.

Young Sam Hardacre leaves behind his life at the Abbey to continue the family tradition by starting his own business empire. Meanwhile, Harry Hardacre is now head of the household but wonders which of the young Hardacre men should inherit his father's legacy. Joe's widow, Helen, plots the ultimate revenge on those who crossed her. And two best friends fight for the love of Maud and Albert's glamorous film-star daughter, Janet.

I like the caracters so individual. , the description of each, their strength and weaknesses, and the suspense in different parts. The determination of Sam to succeed, no matter what. And technical description of salvation of boats, the author has done a lot of research.
Finally, love the reader! She is brilliant, she is the best!

A story full of surprises

Excellent story as was Hardacre too but I found the reader’s odd way of pronouncing of many words rather irritating

Enjoyed the first book Hardacre family saga of rags to riches set before and during WW I followed by the difficulties and heartache of WWII.
Heartacre’s Luck was even better.
Following the extended family living in a very different postwar Britain with their problems. Leaving this fascinating family at the start of the swinging sixties.
Would really recommend this book as an enjoyable listen.

Excellent Book

I liked the story but the reader, though generally good, made a gratingly bad job of the Yorkshire accents which spoilt the overall enjoyment for me.
