Summary
In this angsty fusion of two of Jane Austen’s most beloved novels, Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility, the actions of their sisters cause challenging chain reactions for one of literature’s most celebrated couples....
Fitzwilliam Darcy is faced with a family crisis of epic proportions after the fallout of his sister Georgiana’s ill-fated elopement in Ramsgate, while his friend Charles Bingley is persuaded to abandon his scheme of renting Netherfield Park.
Elizabeth Bennet journeys to London to recover her spirits after Jane’s unexpected marriage changes the sisters’ relationship forever, and despite an attempted reconciliation, Jane is revealed to be far from the angel Elizabeth has always admired.
The bonds of friendship offer Elizabeth a lifeline after a series of tragic events causes her to fear for her future. The support she receives from her new neighbor Marianne Brandon and snarky socialite Lady Rebecca Fitzwilliam may yet prove to heal her broken heart and bring her closer to a happily ever after. The wide array of characters from throughout Austen’s works teach Elizabeth Bennet that she is truly happier in her friends than relations.
Author's note:
Please note that this volume has been heavily edited and revised since original publication, based on suggestions from previous reviewers.
This is book one out of a three-book series. Most storylines will be resolved by the conclusion of this story, but minor characters' stories will be left not fully resolved, for continuation in book two and book three. The Friends & Relations series is an epic saga that peers into the lives of all of Jane's Austen's heroines, imagining them to inhabit a world where their lives and families are intertwined. Throughout this series, characters from all of Jane Austen's major works will be revealed to have existing familial relationships and will forge new connections as well. As the lives of so many beloved Austen characters weave together, this series will address the question of what if all of Austen's works had taken place in the same world...a world where overlap was possible and surprises hide around every corner....

Not your best effort Audible
An entertaining if silly story made ridiculous by the narration. Often sentences are terminated before the end, mispronunciations are common and chapter 6 is incomprehensible. The impression is that Audible has abandoned Quality Control. The world is full of book fans who would Alpha test recordings for free. Come on Audible, make an effort.

Please edit especially chapter 6
Good variation, interesting twist on the characters. I do not usually write reviews. I writing this as I am so disappointed with the editors, who I don’t believe even listened to the production. Story great 5, actor great 5 editing 1. It really is a struggle to stay with it. Very frustrating and sloppy.

hmm.
1st. I do realize that any reader has a difficult job. Keeping up with voices, infection, adding sighs and a hint of laughter is no easy task. However! There are word she completely mispronounced that have Nothing to do with an accent.
2nd. SKIP TRACK 6/ chapter 6! This is definitely the fault of the sound editor. The skips, the pauses, repeating the same sentences several times in a row. You can hear the reader trying various inflections (in a small way an interesting insight to the world of a reader, still very annoying though), also the snapping/clap after every retake.... gah! This starts in a small way the in track before, you'll notice words oddly repeating. It mostly ends in track 7. But track 6 may cause you to just get frustrated and not want to continue.
The gist of track 6: Elizabeth and Darcy see each other at the theater. They don't talk.
3rd. The author is great. I really enjoyed the story. The story lines were fun and I liked the tweaks to everyone's personality.

Unacceptably unprofessional
I wasn't expecting perfection when I purchased what I knew to be self-published fiction.I enjoyed the story well enough to ignore the malapropisms that I couldn't tell were the fault of the author or the reader. I could handle unlikely characterizations or events if they drove the plot. But add to that the fact that the audio is completely unedited beginning in chapter 6? This throws me off enough that I not only intend to seek a refund, but am unlikely to either listen to or read another work by this author. If you are going to put a price on your goods, please make sure it is worth the price. I am sorry, because the story was not bad, but I can't ignore the mistakes

Good but some problems with editing
The story is quite enjoyable, and really so was the performance. The problem was it seems someone forgot to go through the editing process for chapter six. It made the whole chapter painful to listen to, with all these claps and snaps and obvious repeats to perfect the performance. I’m assuming the claps and snaps are a trick to know where to go to edit, but I think chapter six just got missed. There are also multiple places in the rest of the book where words and phrases were repeated when they shouldn’t have been. Overall the actress was good enough, but more care needed to be taken with editing.

The production of this book was so terrible that I had to return it. The story would’ve been OK except it was an unedited portion of the story that had many mistakes and repeats often several repeats within the first five minutes. I couldn’t tolerate this and had to return the book

A great story
Note my version of the audiobook has some editing issues that clear up and do not continue. It was a bit unfortunate that someone did not realize this, but since I read the book I was so very happy to have the audiobook to listen to I did not care.
I hope they get fixed.
This is one of my all time favorite stories. Elizabeth is a strong woman and Jane is an awful sister. I know - but it makes for a wonderful story. Darcy is dealing with his realatives and all their issues that turn his life upside down until he meets and is able to see Elizabeth and make his own mistakes. Throw in some characters from Sense and sensibly and you have a great story.
