About this listen
Raphael
We met once two years ago — a few awful moments I’d rather forget — but he’s lived in my head ever since. Lee Jaehyun. K-pop idol and star of every filthy fantasy I have these days.
I should be thinking about the fact we just won our first Grammy, I should be focussing on our next album. I should be planning my wedding. But I’m not; I’m thinking about him. About what his mouth might taste like and what that body might look like under those carefully curated clothes. About how he might feel in my arms and what my name might sound like from his mouth when he’s turned on.
I’m not sure what this is; the near obsession I have with this guy, but it’s burrowed itself deep and refuses to give an inch. I’ll go insane if I can’t have him just once. Once to scratch the itch, douse the flames.
Except, it turns out once isn’t enough, and it’s not dousing the flames it’s striking a match and I’m about to blow my entire life up.
Jaehyun
Raphael Scott is going to break my heart.
He’s an American rockstar, engaged to be married, and straight. He’ll get tired of whatever this is soon enough. Then he’ll go back to his beautiful actress girlfriend and I’ll be alone again. I’m fine with that.
But it doesn’t mean I won’t take what he’s offering me right now. His shining American smile, his beautiful open heart, the desperate kisses he presses into my skin.
No, Raphael Scott won’t break me, nothing can. I’ve fortified myself against this sort of thing. My body, my art; all of it is armor. This soft American boy has no hope on earth of breaking it.
Hamartia is an opposites-attract, bisexual awakening, Rockstar x K-pop idol mm romance featuring sex, drugs, and rock and roll… and some K-pop. It features themes of a mature nature.
The narrator did and fantastic job at bring Jae and Rapha to life 💜.
This book was everything I hoped it would be and so much more.
This book is not your typical rockstar romance! It was so much more.
When Raphael first meets Jaehyun, it is not under the best circumstances, but Rapha can't get Jae out of his head and, over the next 2 years, keeps track of Jae's career through his Instagram updates.
When they finally meet again, Rapha doesn't want to waste the opportunity to get to know Jae and explore the attraction he has never felt for a man before.
Rapha and Jae are absolutely explosive. Their chemistry is off the charts. The spice in this book is 🤌 (chefs kiss).
As they begin to tentatively explore their relationship and all of the obstacles that are in put front of them, they grow closer and closer.
Jae is so sweet and has real issues with seeing himself the way others do. He is always pushing himself to be better and doesn't think a relationship with Rapha would work even though that's what he really wants.
Raphael was definitely my favourite character in the book he is definitely not your typical arrogant rockstar, that's for sure. He struggles so much with his decision to pursue something with Jaehyun because of his relationship with his girlfriend and his sexuality which he was always certain of until he met Jae.
This book is a journey, a soul discovering beautiful journey. It gives us an insight into the workings of the K-pop world and the regulations which the idols must abide by. It gave us a snipet of Korea and how stunning the country is, and in the end, it gives us a beautiful love story.
Absolutely incredible

And of course, I it's adorable how little effort the author put to disguise the real-life artist who served as an inspiration for this whole book. It is a gift for all fans.
Sweet, captivating and sensual

I really enjoyed the dynamic of western rockstar and k-pop idol a lot. Jae is such a wonderful character. I can see how he was inspired by many different idols and i definitely saw a bit of some my faves in there. Overall he was just such a beautiful character and I kind of wish more of the story was from his pov.
I’m not sure why, but I never really warmed to Rafa. Even though he does try hard to make up for his mistakes, he still kind of comes off quite selfish and a bit oblivious to other people’s feelings and concerns.
In complete contrast to pretty much all my other reviews, I actually think this might have a smidge too much spice… I mean I loved the way it was all written and the dynamic between the two mcs but some of it felt a bit forced and it took over a bit. There were not quite enough tender and loving moments that weren’t then steamrollered by lust that didn’t always seem like a natural progression.
Overall I did really enjoy the book. The narrator was amazing and the plot is really interesting.
Spicy!
