Summary

Patrick Robinson burst on the scene with his gripping naval thriller, The New York Times best-selling Nimitz Class, then did it again with Kilo Class. His explosive HMS Unseen portrays the world in crisis as a dangerous terrorist pits nation against nation to promote his own chilling agenda.

While on a training mission, the British submarine HMS Unseen mysteriously disappears. A year later three planes are shot from the sky - one of them carrying the Vice President of the United States. As wily US Security Advisor Arnold Morgan scrambles to prevent international turmoil, he suspects the lost sub has been modified to carry antiaircraft weapons. Morgan knows only one person who could mastermind this scheme - an Iraqi terrorist believed to be dead.

Acclaimed on both sides of the Atlantic, Patrick Robinson blows listeners out of the water with his adrenaline-charged tales. Veteran narrator George Guidall will keep you gasping for breath as the plot races from the shocking opening to the stunning finish.

unseen and unheard

the story starts well but then I felt it lost its way. the main character became unbelievable and the plot just thin and uninteresting. the action scenes were light in scope and detail.
On the narration, this was disappointing, unrealistic and as far as pronunciation is concerned inaccurate.
a disappointing lustempn, which I only finished out of sheer cussedness

Slow and doesn’t get any faster.

This story line starts slow and then builds and builds to a crawl. I waited for it to get faster but it doesn’t. I gave up in the end as it was too painful to continue. Disappointing!

Great Book

Fantastic story, read the book some time ago thought it would be worth a listen, sadly not with this narrator spoiled the story as I kept thinking how bad his accents were.

Great story brought to life

This is a great story brought to life in audio by George. Unfortunately, his accents and mispronunciations let him down, but, don't let that put you off, listen and enjoy. I just wish Nimitz class and kilo class were on here as they then tie the main protagonist down a lot better and the heroes are more lovable.

not great

I like a good thriller. This wasn't one of them. Story has far too many flaws and a significant lack of consistency.

Gripping

Superb story, skillfully narrated by the ‘rock star of narrators, George Guidall. Not my usual genre, but loved this book and will now listen to others by this author.

Technically sound on submarine operations

It helps when you have a former CO of a SSN and the FOSM to keep you straight. The rest of the story felt padded in too may places, almost like he was trying to emulate Fredrick Forsyth in his detail descriptions but didn’t know when to stop.
The narrator was pretty poor, particularly when it came to British pronunciation. There were too many words spoken in an English or Scots accent using American pronunciation. The most egregious was ‘submariner’ - made me cringe
