Summary

Newly re-edited.

The Mylos came for genetic trade, offering a chance for the women of Earth to meet and marry their perfect other halves as well as advances in technology and education for all.

Darla Levin isn't looking for a husband. She is, however, looking for money for college. Falling short of her needs using financial aid, she decides to take a gamble and apply for the Bride Registry Scholarship.

It seems simple: You don't get matched unless you're a perfect genetic and psychological fit, and for the scholarship, the pool is limited to Mylos currently in orbit. Matches are so rare, she's never known anyone who has known anyone else who has been matched.

After her best friend Angie registers and received her scholarship funds immediately, Darla takes the plunge. Only the unthinkable happens, and she finds she is now the mate to Gundar, the commander of the Bride Fleet itself.

Romance with a happily ever after and no cliff-hanger. For mature listeners only!

Gundar

I did find it slow going in certain areas of the story. However, the book is not a bad read/listen.

What an amazing series!!!

This is my second book by this author ( Loretta Johns) and the series keeps getting better. I love this storyline and it keeps me engaged. Definitely a great story that is a must listen.
And I have to say what a fabulous story. My only complaint is that it is a short story. I can’t wait for books by this author. I’m hoping that this will be a long series of stories. The narrator Audrey Lusk does a phenomenal job with the characters . I hope to hear even more from the author. She does a fantastic job with the characters voices. I can’t wait for more to come.

A mate for you listen

This story is book 2 of a series . This story tells about a mail order bride but in the future, on other planets . The story has lots of layers and excitement. The author writes about an alien and human love
Hero is a Gundar . Heroine is Darla
Darla is strong willed and tells what is on her mind no holds back . Gundar is a perfect match for Darla. He know when to keep her in check , but he’s also gentle and strong .
Grab it and see if this story ends in happiness

Audrey the narrator was good. Her voice is good , smooth

Enjoyable story.

I really enjoyed this story, the characters are great and I feel that what happens would happen if it were to happen....if you see what I mean. I felt I could relate to Darla, what she was going through and feeling and I loved getting Gundar's point of view aswell. It made me laugh several times with the things that happened. There were enough twists throughout to keep me interested. It did take me a little while to get used to the narrator, once I did I settled in well to the story.

Not a fan of narrator

Story is good but Lusk is awful. She does not have a voice for romance books.

The Narrator Ruined the whole story!

The narrator was so cringe worthy, it was like listening to someone scratch a chalk board with nails for over four hours. She made the lead characters sound like they were out of breath and had nasal issues at the same time. Ruined the whole book for me. Can't tell if the story would have been good or not. Couldn't get past the horrible imitation of character voice.

Sweet love story

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is of my own. Darla is a regular girl with a huge family that’s wanting to go to college. When financial aid doesn’t come through she goes with her best friend to sign up for the bridal registry not even thinking she would be matched right away much less to someone who was high ranking of the alien species that has a pack with earth. I personally enjoyed some of the smaller details as it made Darla feel more like a real person who dealt with real financial issues. I really enjoyed the book and hooked me from the beginning.

good intentions?

Darla had a few moments where I thought she was "normal " , but the more she talked and her
thoughts made her seem obtuse and I didn't like her. Surprises. reunions, mix ups and hfn. The narrator didn't seem a match for this story imo.

Loved the book - Narrator not so much

Darla did not receive enough money for college so she registered for the bride program for the additional funds after her mother talked to her about it. Her friend had already signed up and was not a match. When Darla signs up, there is an immediate match to one of the Mylos.

Love when the Mylos brought several human (distributors) to the ship. The humans were trying to mislead the Mylos into purchasing more expensive goods, especially designer clothing. I like how the Mylos dealt with them.

This book had a really good story and I am invested in completing the series.

There were some really funny parts of the book when Gundar misunderstood - like when he called Olive Garden – Garden of the Olives and when Darla was brushing his hair, she asked him for a ponytail holder and he told her he didn’t have a horse. There were a lot funny things like that.

This book has just the right amount of romance and suspense and I highly recommend it! The narrator was OK. I started to get used to her voice as I continued to listen and really got into the story.

I was given this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyable story

Militaristic and orderly aliens looking for mates for life came to Earth and get matched to an unsuspecting human female. It's a well-written sci-fi fantasy romance that's of course wish fulfillment as well. I enjoyed the story overall though the narrator's overall joyful southern voice was a bit off putting at times but not a deal breaker as such.

Loved the story

I loved the story and how the characters interacted with each other.

I will agree with others in that the narrator was a bit much with the accent, but I still enjoyed the book.

I did receive this audiobook for free for my honest review.

so so but narration makes it worse

It has a good plot, the characters are nice but the story is lacking, to much filler and details. At times I found it to be boring and other times very interesting. I am not sure if it was the story so much or more so the narrator that really made this a hard one to finish. Yes the narrator needs more work but I wonder if I would have enjoyed it more if there was another narrator.

The narrator voice does not go with the characters, there are repeating of words, I really hate to say but her voice does roll smooth with the audio and isn’t one that I enjoyed. The sexy parts were not sex, the sad parts and there are a few just do not work with this voice. On the bright side there was no volume changes, no background noise. I would give this narrator another try but only as she grows and her character voice sound more normal and not so close together.

Great Story!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this continuing story of the brides matched to the Mylos. This book is pegged as Book 1 of the Mate the Stars series, but the original story began with Tellan: Brides of the Mylos. I highly recommend listening to Tellan before listening to any of the books in the Mate the Stars series. While I loved the overall story in this selection, I was definitely not fond of the narrator’s voice—she almost caused me to stop listening to the story. Fortunately I was caught up in this series and I wanted to hear what the story had to tell. I received this audiobook at my request and I voluntarily wrote this review.
