Summary

Warning: Massive spoilers ahead unless you've listened up to this point! You know the deal: Go listen to the rest of the series first and come back for more!

In the future...only the strong survive....

New London - a city of wondrous technology, where cyborgs and androids reign, and the fate of many is decided by bloody PvP. But this violent metropolis may also hold the secret to the true location of Citadel, and Reece and his friends are running out of time to save their home.

With Gilly and Becky now saved from the Labyrinth, Reece turns his attention to the original mission of saving Citadel. But in order to discover it, they’ll need to leave the fantasy realm of Nasgar and cross the wild to explore a harsh and futuristic dystopia in hopes of accessing the archives that may lead them to their home. But as they face powerful enemies, a blood-thirsty AI and challenges like never before, a dark secret from Rembrandt’s past threatens to bring it all undone.

But before even that, Reece will need to face his own demons from the past, and an arch nemesis who still stands in his way.

Join Reece as he uncovers more mysteries within the Crystal Shards and confronts the strange new enemy that threatens both it and his home. In order to defeat them, he’ll need to unlock even more powers within the game world and grow into the man and leader that his team needs him to become.

Warning: Contains RPG mechanics, detailed party combat, and giant boss fights. If these things do not interest you, then this is not the audiobook for you!

Just amazing

Carrying on from where the last book ended, this book doesn't hold anything back, the story just gets better and the addition of guns and vehicles doesn't feel like a change but rather an extension of what is already there.

Character progression is fantastic and that ending just keeps me wanting more.

main character isn't as smart as the author thinks

Good book continues story well. it wraps up some parts of the story and introduces more story seamlessly.

Entertaining enough

We visit a new setting and city in this installment. By this book the are no surprises, you know the authors style. It's the same formula as before. The MC isn't quite as Mickey Mouse as previous books, maybe only 78% as childish. If you can get over the forced goody-goody nature of the characters it's an entertaining enough story. I listen while driving to work and have paid attention to most of the story in this series. After several hundred audio books, I would say that counts for something. Better than average.

Good book

This is a great book. I love it and the entire series. The only complaint is that it is a mob not a moob. As in “flash mob”. My inner English teacher cringed every time you he pronounced it wrong.

Home Run

Gun Blade is the best book in the series so far, and much better than books 2 & 3. The plot lines and characters all advance nicely, as does the writing of the Author, Rick Scott.

Very impressed with the improvements made in the story and characters. This is turning into quite a series, with more to come.

This series is the perfect mix of SciFi & Fantasy rolled into a LitRPG. I can't wait for the next book! Thank you Rick Scott for the excellent story and Eric Summerer for bringing it to life with his narration.

So good

I have been waiting for this and it was amazing. We're getting closer to the climax and I just can't wait to see them all max out there stats and run roughshod over those stupid enough to stand in the way of saving Citadel.

Overall, great story progress, great fight scenes, still a bit repeaty on some of the stats and messages but nowhere like before. I am overall loving this series and can't wait for the next book which I know is still a ways off.

I really wish he would pronounce MOBs correctly.

I think there were several other mis pronunciations but this one was the most irksome since it kept being repeated. But otherwise it's a great story and a great telling.

It's mobs, not mobes. Like knobs, or Bob's. unless they actually spelled it "mobes".. I didn't buy the book, just the audio, so I can't see how it's spelled. But generally any AI enemy in a game is called a mob, or mobs for plural.

Mobe?

I enjoyed the book and the performance. However, hearing mob pronounced as mobe affected me in a way I don’t think I can recover from.

I feel like I was in my own Listener vs Reader death match. You hear mob pronounced as mobe. You take 10 damage. You hear mob pronounced as mobe. You take 10 damage. You hear mob pronounced as mobe. You take 10 damage. You have been defeated.

With that said, I’m looking forward to the next one!
