Summary

The author writes memoirs of growing up and dealing with many negative issues in a positive way. Issues dealt with were serious, but with a positive attitude they were delt with head on. He feels that his experience will provide encouragement for young ones growing up in less-than-ideal situations.

"My mother and father had five children when we lost her and another child at childbirth. I was only four years old. Later we got a stepmother, and eventually two more children. I grew up extremely shy, had to deal with segregation and our family was poor, to name a few issues I had to deal with.

"As I grew up, I was able to find a way to deal with all the issues I was faced with. A positive attitude, family, and a good sense of humor were real assets in finding joy in my humble life," says the author.
