About this listen
We thought death was the end, turns out it’s just the prologue.
RUE
I died, briefly. Then I came back. Now I’m determined to make the most of every minute I have left.
Only problem is I’ve been saddled with supervision. Kane Deveraux is handsome, smug, and cold as a tombstone. So why does he make me feel something more powerful than death?
KANE
As a reaper, I have helped crossover thousands of souls. And not one of them have touched mine…until Rue Chamberlain. She’s stubborn, reckless, and maddeningly radiant.
And for this centuries-old spirit, she’s a living woman that is absolutely off-limits. If I follow the rules, I will lose her. If I break them, I might lose everything.
Grim is a darkly romantic, wickedly funny tale of life, death, and a love that refuses to rest in peace.

Performed by truly exceptional and talented voice artists. And, damn... it will blow you away too!
From the very beginning I was immediately immersed into this beautifully crafted gothic novel by otherworldly characters brought to life and straight into my very soul. By the incredible emotional depth of these performances. The soundscape was spectacular and elevated the story to another dimension. Every aspect creating an amazingly crafted atmosphere.
An absolute masterpiece!!
Beautifully immersive

It’s an exploration of loss in so many forms, loss of self, of hope, of life, with both anticipatory and actual grief woven throughout, but it didn’t break me, it’s beautiful and haunting, with this eerie, tragic, gothic romance vibe that stays with you long after.
For me, it gave a similar emotional feeling to City of Angels (even though the story itself is very different). And, this will sound stupidly random, but it also reminded me of that moment in the Harry Potter films when the Tale of the Three Brothers is shown, and you see the silhouette of the lost love fading away, that picture kept popping in to my mind and the bittersweet, ethereal ache was there.
Rue and Kane’s story feels like two lost souls from different times and worlds colliding, somehow helping each other find their way again. I cried, I held my breath, and I felt the weight of every emotion in the words. But on the flip side, their banter absolutely had me smirking and laughing and the stories beyond theirs were so touching too.
Since I listened to the audiobook, I have to say a little about that too. I love Blue Nose Production audiobooks, they’re my favourite, whether duet style or full cast. I’m usually not a fan of “graphic audio,” though, those often feel a bit Hallmark cheesy to me, and the sound effects don’t usually add anything positive (please don’t mob me—I know it’s personal preference!). So when I heard this version would include extra sound effects, I was honestly a bit reluctant and pre-emptively disappointed, but this was so much better than most of the audio books that would fall in to the “graphic audio” productions. For me, about 90% of the extra sound effects were spot on—they actually enhanced the atmosphere rather than feeling unnecessary—and the narrators completely nailed it, massive part of all the "feels" for this book.
Tragically Beautiful
