About this listen

If the zombie apocalypse happens tomorrow, how would you spend your last day?

All Dr. Brianna Lewis wants is a cup of coffee. Coffee to make slaving away in her cell culture lab at Green Fields Biotech a little more bearable on a Friday afternoon when everyone is home already.

What she doesn't count on is a group of terrorists blowing up all the entrances to the building and taking her and a select few others hostage. Bree soon finds herself conflicted. Not only does she know their charismatic leader, she also starts to suspect that there is a lot more to this than the hunt for an illegal bioweapon - a virus that could potentially kill millions in just a few days. Particularly, there is currently a flu epidemic raging across the country, and reports about violent behavior among the afflicted are getting more and more alarming.

Not great. All about hiding and getting caught. A bit disappointing. No mention of how out brake happened.

This was another one of those binge-listen audiobooks that I had trouble switching off for a moment. That being said, the beginning had me confused for a moment and I would've preferred it to be left out.
If you wish to keep some twists more of a surprise for yourself for later, skip the opening chapter and go directly to audiobook chapter 2.

Basically, the beginning of the book underlined and highlighted the ZOMBIES eventual reveal with neon lights and bells and whistles - that is to say way too much way too soon. For me it ruined the experience of being as clueless as the FMC as to what was going on, as well as some developments between characters.

Slowly dawning realization of what's happening was delightful - and this new angle into the genre for me

A new idea to me so I found it refreshing. I like Bree, the scientist. She has guts and intelligence. She's a bit ditsy at times, naive and is easily thrown off her stride by Nate. And she seems to scowl at almost anything! Every 30 seconds she scowls at someone, usually Nate. It's a little irritating. She's a smart woman but the only come backs she can manage are lame so she scowls. It's not bad enough to stop listening though.
The story is good. I enjoyed putting the pieces together and the reveals of back story and new information are well woven into the story. It flows well and the characters are interesting. I'm looking forward to listening to the second book.

Great, fresh idea

After listening to this in a day st work I can say that it'd a great new take on the genre. Good writing and narration is top notch. And in response to a previous review that stated "it doesn't even show how the outbreak happened", it literally does lol, obviously the reviewer didn't listen to the entire book. Well played. onto the rest of the series.

class, ignore the other reviews.

Cliche, pretentious and boring. When I am choosing a book about zombie apocalipse I do not wish to read about a pretentious and unbelievable love affair. The book drags forever, entangled in unneccessary and predictable threads.

Pretensious and boring
