About this listen

The gripping Temperance Brennan novel from world-class forensic anthropologist Kathy Reichs, the international no. 1 bestselling crime thriller writer and the inspiration behind the hit TV series Bones.

In the searing heat of Guatemala, Dr Temperance Brennan must harden herself against the horrors she excavates.

And then four young girls go missing from Guatemala City.

When a skeleton is found at the back of a rundown hotel, only someone with Tempe's expertise can deduce the identity and cause of death.

But as she searches for answers, her path is blocked at every turn. It is clear that some people will stop at nothing to keep Guatemala's secrets buried.

Critic reviews

You’ll want to keep turning the pages long after lights out to find out what happens next … Reichs’ real-life expertise gives her novels an authenticity that most other crime novelists would kill for Daily Express
With Kathy Reichs the reader knows they're in the hands of an expert
Reading Reichs is always an education one way or another. There is plenty of action... but it is the detail that actually makes it gripping
Reichs has proved that she is now up there with the best
Compared with Patricia Cornwell, Reichs is actually in a different league
A truly impressive writer
Brilliant . . . seamless blending of fascinating science and dead-on psychological portrayals, not to mention a whirlwind of a plot
Brennan is a winner, and so is Reichs

I loved this story and whilst it's known this happened, kathy manages to weave a story that is heart breaking but at the same time makes you feel everyword.

She's just gets better

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Love Kathy Reichs but this was to complicated and hard to follow! Not for me!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Possibly where it was set that is what drew me this book originally

Did Katherine Borowitz do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

No problems with narration

Did Grave Secrets inspire you to do anything?

No! Nearly gave up half way only inspired me to ask for my 'credit' back

Any additional comments?

Have loved all her previous books this was not for me

Hard to stick with almost boring!

These stories have enough detail and complexity to make it fun to listen more than once. You pick up on details you missed last time and can better appreciate the authors skill because you can see how she weaves the story, giving snippets of clues here and there.

So good I read it twice

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Only to keep in touch with the Temperance Brennan journey

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

The story line was essentially all there but the story jumped from one crime to another so quickly that it was hard to keep up

Did Katherine Borowitz do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

Katherine doesn't present the story with much more than a mild accenting of the different characters, she struggles with the men, but halfway through the book this seemed to improve, perhaps as a result that I began to identify with the characters a bit more

Do you think Grave Secrets needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

There is already a follow up book in this series, which is sadly not available on Audible (so far)

Good but not gripping

This story is another good outing by the author, can't really go wrong with these books.
