Summary

My dearest daughter, I will never forget the day I nearly lost you. The day you learned the secrets that would tear our lives apart....

Time stops for Jen when her beloved daughter, Gracie, is involved in a terrible car crash. Pronounced dead at the scene, it's a miracle when paramedics manage to then resuscitate the little girl. The relief Jen feels at Gracie's recovery is matched only by her fury at the driver of the car - her ex-husband's new girlfriend, Ella. Jen has never trusted Ella, and now her worst fears have been confirmed.

But then Gracie begins to tell strange stories about what she heard in the car that day and what she saw in those moments near death. It's clear that there's something shocking hidden in Ella's past, but exposing it could tear all their lives apart.

An emotional pause resister that will take your breath away. Perfect for fans of Jodi Picoult, Lisa Wingate, and Kerry Fisher.

A good read

The narrator was very good. Good read for the summer although wasn't too keen on the ending.

Predictable story with annoying narration

I wish I hadn't bothered, from start to finish the story was so predictable. Gracie doesn't have a secret, I kept listening, in the vain hope that something (other than what I had assumed from paragraph one) would happen. Oh and the narration, dear god, it was like nails scraping on a blackboard, all in all a waste of a credit.

Sneaks up on you

For the first third I was waiting for something to happen and then it hooked me. It's an unusual story line. Try to purchase on sale as a credit might be too much. The narration was pleasant except when the child was upset. Then the voice was so high pitched that it was like nails on a chalkboard.

WOW!!!! ALL I CAN SAY IS THAT!!!!

WHAT A GREAT STORY!!!! THIS ISN'T YOUR REGULAR PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER, BUT ABOUT LOVE, HOPE, AND THE POWER OF A MOTHER!!!! I CRIED AND CRIED. THIS WAS A GREAT BOOK!!!! LIKE I SAID, IT'S NOT A NORMAL THRILLER, YES THERE ARE SOME TWISTS AND TURNS, BUT THIS IS MOSTLY OF A MOTHER'S DEVOTION TO HER DAUGHTER..... LIES PEOPLE TELL, AND HOW DESPERATE PEOPLE CAN BECOME IN THIS LIFE.

Overly dramatic

It’s hard to get to the heart of the book due to the overly dramatic theatrical performance by the narrator.

A mother's love indeed

Description of thoughts of each character well done. The depth of a mother's love well portrayed. Highly enjoyed this book. Well done.

What a depressing waste of time and money! Then they are disturbed enough to offer more storues like this from the author!! What kind of disturbed person writes this crap...I listened for and wasted hours putting up with the annoying whine of the narrator only to have a sick, stupid endkng! GRRR, don't waste your tine or money! Or emotion for that matter!

Heartbreakingly beautiful

My first thought is “wow”.

It’s a beautiful story of a mother’s love and devotion to her child. A story of a marriage gone awry and the feeling a mother gets of being needed, wanted, for just being a woman. It’s about resentment to the “other woman” and your ex for finding happiness again.

It’s a story of tragedy, layers deep, affecting so many. It’s loss and love, hope and hopelessness. It’s a story of miracles and belief.

This is the first I’ve read by this author and I wasn’t expecting the gut wrenching and anxiety provoking feelings. My heart hurt and I found myself gasping and tearing up (yes tissues are needed). The epilogue, although painful, did provide peace.

The narrator did a wonderful job telling a mother’s story. She emoted everything that the words conveyed.

It was heartbreakingly beautiful.

Gracie’s Secret

I really enjoyed this book until it was close to the end. The narrator is first class and gives Gracie a marvelous sweet voice.
I think the book unravels towards the end I feel that The author is just looking for a quick way to close the book. I was gripped by the action until the last few pages and I felt let down...

Great book. Enjoyed it, but...

It was a great listen I enjoyed it quite a bit. However...when the narrator would speak as if she were the child, it was a high pitched shriek. Terrible. Almost stopped listening for that reason alone. the story was good tho.
