Abridged disappointment of a great book

This version is so heavily edited I was really disappointed. This is one of my favourite books but most of the story and it’s heart is missing. Such a shame.

not the complete book!

this is an abridged version so useless if you want to listen to it as a reading aid for the physical book

Highly edited and lacking for it

Highly edited and lacking for it. The fact that this is so abridge should be advertised. Do not buy.

Abridged and no use as reading aid!

I got this book to help my daughter with dyslexia as a reading aid for her school literacy class. It’s no use and just confused her.
Such a pity as it would have made a massive difference to her engagement with the story!

Edited version

Really loved the story, but I was planning to listen to it while I read the book. However, the audio missing out much of the story line and made this impossible, very disappointed.

Highly recommend

I had this book and audiobook as a child and happily listen to or read it again now. The story is well-crafted and moving, and the narration by Malahide is one of the best I've heard. The abridgement is also well-handled and maintains the crux of the story whilst cutting the length to a digestible amount. Music interludes throughout to break up the story into sections are a welcome edition. I'd recommend this story to young teens specifically and anyone who is looking for genuine poignancy in their audiobook.
