Summary

Moist von Lipwig was a con artist and a fraud and a man faced with a life choice: be hanged, or put Ankh-Morpork's ailing postal service back on its feet. It was a tough decision. But he's got to see that the mail gets though - come rain, hail, sleet, dogs, the Post Office Workers Friendly and Benevolent Society, the evil chairman of the Grand Trunk Semaphore Company, and a midnight killer. Getting a date with Adora Bell Dearheart would be nice, too.

Maybe it'll take a criminal to succeed where honest men have failed, or maybe it's a death sentence either way. Or perhaps there's a shot at redemption in the mad world of the mail, waiting for a man who's prepared to push the envelope.

Critic reviews

"British fantasist Pratchett's latest special-delivery delight, set in his wonderfully crazed city of Ankh-Morpork, hilariously reflects the plight of post offices the world over as they struggle to compete in an era when e-mail has stolen much of the glamour from the postal trade." ( Publishers Weekly)
"His world, increasingly subtle and thoughtful, has become as allegorical and satirical as a painting by Bosch....Pratchett's joy in his creations, in jokes, puns, the idea of letters and language itself makes Going Postal one of the best expressions of his unstoppable flow of comic invention." ( The Times)

I love Terry Pratchett!!!

I read this book many years ago and was eager to hear what the audio version would be like…I wasn’t disappointed. As always, funny, delightful, typical Terry Pratchett. Performance was perfect.

Pratchett at his best

Funny, fun and exciting. The con man hero is likeable and the golems are great. The mysterious post office building is a great setting. Robinson reads superbly.

Going something

I don?t know what Graham of Reigate is listening to, it's certainly not Going Postal read by Tony Robinson, we are quite worried about him and suggest he goes to the Doctors; he may have a ear infection. Terry Pratchett and Tony Robinson go together like Nanny Ogg & Granny Weatherwax.
