One goblin's wit may prove just as sharp—and dangerous—as his teeth in this rollicking LitRPG tale of mud, blood, and battles galore.

Aside from regenerating teeth and enhanced night vision, newborn runt-of-the-goblin-litter Daggat didn't have much going for him. Until, that is, the spin of a wheel granted him a big, fat intelligence boost. Now, his hunger for knowledge drives him as much as his hunger for prey does. He has so many questions: What are trees made of? Why does he have to stop killing his siblings? And what's that shaman cooking up in his hut? Unfortunately, his curiosity usually leads to percussive punishment rather than answers.

Determined to figure out the rules of this game he was born into, Daggat must apply his wits to manipulate his brute-force siblings, outsmart cruel goblin bosses, and claw his way to Party Leader status. Meanwhile, across the Elderveil Forest, fate brings together a troop of outcasts who're also forging their own bloody paths to power: A tyrannical dragon reincarnated as an ambitious—albeit tiny—worm forms an unlikely alliance with a cursed human girl and an orphaned ogre, and a ten-year-old prodigy uncovers his father's horrifying experiments, leading to a tragic betrayal.

As Daggat rallies his crew to master the secrets of alchemy and the system, each soul strives to evolve, mutate, and shed their weak forms. But how far will a gremlin go to become the ultimate party leader?

The first volume of the hit LitRPG fantasy series—with more than 800,000 views on Royal Road—now available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook!

Book was good and set up all the characters well. It was just a bit short for my taste.

Good start

From the outset you can tell that it's competently written. A lot of litrpg books can have rough first novels, but that wasn't the case here.

There's a nice sense of humour interspersed between the drama. It's a great concept focusing on a group of little gremlins and their antics.

Without spoilers though, there are other characters and points of view that are woven well into the wider narrative.

It does a good job of setting up expectations and their payoffs. It isn't afraid of intentionally flawed characters with room for development and serious moments.

The narrator did a great job too.

Great concept, well written characters and interesting plot.

So let's start with why i didn't rate the story a 5/5. it's too short. by that I don't mean the duration of the book, but rather the fact that it ends a bit too early to be completely satisfying. at least that's how it feels after listening only to it. who knows maybe book 2 couldn't be split without making it even worse. Ignore this problem if book 2 is out when you read this review.

Everything else in the story is very good. The characters are enjoyable to read about, believable and sympathetic. each of them has their flaws and development. The plot feels planned out from the beginning and never feels like it's anything but the natural development of events, the twists feel foreshadowed in hindsight and can be predicted if you actually pay attention.

We only got the basics of magic and alchemy in this book but so far it feels very unique, and the Tri-pronged progression system feels complex yet understandable and I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops going forward, especially considering that all characters so far seem to focus on different aspects of it.

Personally I strongly dislike frequent perspective shifts, however It's only a personal opinion and while personally annoying I can admit that they were done masterfully here most of the time . I truly have to say I'm impressed by how well they work together to set things up and so none of them feels disconnected from the main story for long.

As for narration. Solid work as always from this studio. I didn't notice any editing mistake and voice actor does a great job expressing the characters.

A great beginning to what can turn out to be a truly amazing series.
