The powerful Sunday Times bestselling Richard and Judy Pick

A MESMERIZING LISTEN FOR FANS OF
WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING, GREAT CIRCLE AND THE PAPER PALACE

I've come to understand how the exceptional lurks beneath the ordinary like the deep and mysterious world beneath the sea.

On a cool autumn morning, Torie Nash heads into her village pulling a rickety wagon filled with late-season peaches. As she nears an intersection, a mysterious drifter with grimy thumbs and smudged cheeks and eyes as dark as a raven's wing stops to ask her the way.

She could turn left or cross over. But she does not. 'Go as a river,' he whispers.

So begins a mezmerising story that unfolds over a tumultuous lifetime as Torie begins to absorb and follow his words.

Gathering all the pieces of her small and extraordinary life, spinning through the eddies of desire, heartbreak and betrayal, she will arrive at a single rocky decision that will change her life for ever.
__________

'Completely spellbinding, vivid, and luminous' JANE GREEN

'Go As a River delivers so very much: the tenderness and curiosity of young love, the eternal pangs of loss, the brutality of racism, the sustaining power of nature and the miracle of a mother's love. Suffused with wisdom and compassion, this shattering testimony to life is to be savored, treasured, shared' MEG WAITE CLAYTON, author of The Postmistress of Paris

'Shelley Read's lyrical voice is a force of nature. Tragic, uplifting and completely unforgettable' BONNIE GARMUS, author of LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY

I was recommended this book by other readers who had also loved Where The Crawdads Sing and the two are very alike in their protagonists' relationships with the land where they live and the strength and resilience of their characters. There's a juxtaposition of peace and suffering in both novels. The narration was great in the first person but I really didn't like the vocal characterisation of the other characters dialogue, thankfully there wasn't too much of this to spoil the overall.

A novel about the ability to thrive outside of ones original environment

Magnificent, super visual, robust characters, a woman’s endurance and the power of love in spite of the odds. I want to reach out and hug Victoria, Will and Lucas.

Didn’t want it to end

I enjoyed this book, & listened to it as a Judy & Richard recommendation. However I did find myself checking out a bit. Not sure why really as the story was good. Think it could have been the narrator? Dunno..didn’t blow my socks!🤔

Good story…but

Loved this story so so much. It’s one of my top ten books I’ve listened to ever!! It is 5 out of 5 without a doubt. No fault can be found with this title. I’m so glad I purchased it. I have listened to this in the short space of 24 hours on n off. Just wanted to hear more and more. I do hope the author does another book and soon. The narrator was fabulous too and the entire story was too. The narrator made the book not that it needed any help. Reminds me of when the crawdads sing and that is in my top ten list already. And my favourites.

One of my favourite books I’ve listened to all year! And I listen to a lot.

Definitely recommend. A lovely story. Characters well written Victoria is a strong woman who shows such resilience in some exceedingly hard times. In fact all the main female characters are quite extraordinary in their strength. Immediately loved Wilson too.

definitely recommend
