THE TIKTOK FANTASY SENSATION THAT'S SOLD OVER HALF A MILLION COPIES, PERFECT FOR FANS OF SARAH J. MAAS AND JENNIFER L. ARMENTROUT
'It's the arrogance of men to think so little of women. And it'll be their downfall too'
Locked away in a castle on the snowy mountains in the Sixth Kingdom of Orea, I have never known freedom.
No one can get in or out. Apart from him.
King Midas, who rescued me from the streets. Who gave me food, shelter, and his heart. Who I promised to love forever.
But when political upheaval sees me sent across kingdoms to a future I no longer understand, everything I thought I knew about King Midas is shattered . . .
The world has only ever heard his story.
Now it's time to hear mine.

Critic reviews
Get ready to be enthralled from the first word, and begging for more by the last. Raven Kennedy crafts an astonishing world that's filled with captivating characters and a story you won't be able to put down
This series is amazing and I can't recommend it enough. It is one of the best New Adult Fantasy books out there.
An emotional rollercoaster
What I've enjoyed so far about this series is how it's a metaphor about real, emotional issues
it may of been different perhaps with a different narrator... the tempo and pace of the voice would have been better suited for a comedy story I feel.. it was all very samey throughout every scene when going through different scenes regarding emotional expressions etc.. so that may have lost it for me. every line was spoken in a "matter of fact" tone...I need more range in contrasting scenes to get my mind engrossed. again..I'm a hard pleaser (if that's a word)
might not get the 2nd book.
it was...okay

I warn you all to read the trigger warnings before reading. I didn't (as usual) and when I started the book I was a bit thrown off by all the sex. Please don't be. The story line is so good and gets better and better.
There is an ongoing theme in the book; mysogomy and dehumanisation of women and some of the derogatory insults thrown at the female characters and "Saddles" (this are what the Kings harem is referred to). It left a foul taste in my mouth but just shows how well Raven Kennedy writes and draws the reader into the stories very souls, as if you are living it.
I didn't like Auren at first, she was selfish and ignorant. But she grows and learns, admittedly through some harrowing events and equally she has grown on me.
I can't really put here what I want to call Midas, but the words rear and end are a polite substitute for what I have in mind for this man. He treats women as objects.
Its not until near the end of the book when there is a plot twist, that I realised he didnt covet Auren because she was the only one of her kind. He had an ulterior motive for wanting to keep her locked in a cage, where only he could use her "gifts".
Would I recommend this book? Yes, despite all the toxic male characters, this book drew me in and I couldnt put it down. Please, please read it and see for yourself.
A silver plated woman, locked in a cage.

Auren is King Midas' favourite saddle, and it's her story finding strength, dealing with her clumsiness and good nature. Gild lives up to the hype. It is a great story. Trigger warnings. Slight cliffhanger. I'm definitely listening to Glint.
Excellent Midas retelling...
