This is the first in what I hope is to be another great series from Gwen Demarco. It is well written with engaging characters albeit they are a bit weird, It's a voyage of discovery for Gideon when Dacey comes in to his life and they become embroiled in investigating murders. Discovery that is of himself, for he has hidden powers that even he did not recognise. Janine Granda once again excels with the narration bringing her own voices to well developed characters. Highly Recommended.

After finishing the Sophie Feegle series, I felt bereft. As delighted as I was to have discovered a series that I adored so much, an author whose imagination concocts the most fantastical of characters and journeys and a narrator whose talents allow you to completely sink into the narrative - I knew I needed more but was worried, I didn’t want to leave the world that the Odd Ones exist in. I wanted more.

To then find out that the world had been expanded in the Auras and Embers series with Gideon and Dacey - well, there was no hesitation to purchase.

I have not been disappointed. The world building is just as excellent, and though I still miss the Odd Ones; the new partnership, the further development of mythical creatures, the potential for a whole new found family to follow and the questions that come with a story well told, meant that I devoured this audiobook in one day.

Onto the next and fingers crossed for many more books set within this epic world.

Delighted to return to the world of the mythicals…

This was an amazing book. I was so enthralled from the very start and loved to see the relationship develop between Gideon and Dacey. Am looking forward to see these characters develop in the next book and see where their story goes. Brilliant narration by Janine really feel like I am watching it all happen. 🥰 highly recommend this book

Really enjoyed this story and the storyteller did a great job. I love that we are back in the world of Sophie F with the mysticals…really clever writing. This was an interesting mystery with lots of adventure.
