Would you like to simplify your life, downsize, and become debt free? Then this book is definitely for you! Most of the things we own, we don't even pay attention to in our day to day lives. You must keep finding things around your home you see only once a year, and yet you keep finding them every spring cleaning. You clean them up, meditate a bit on the memories they bring back, and put them back in their secret place. Then you forget about them for at least a few months. And it's not just about the things we don't use daily. It's about the attitude, the desire to own so many things. It's a vicious circle we draw ourselves, and we keep following the line like our lives depend on it.

Summary
You have too much stuff! Your closets are filled with clothes you never wear. You have not seen your kitchen counters in months. Your junk drawer has exploded into an entire room of things you don't use. How can we say that when we don't even know you? Well, because most people do and we were just like you.
In 2008 we put our decluttering and downsizing skills to the ultimate test: Get Rid of Everything we owned in order to follow our dream and travel around the world. From that experience we documented every step in the process to provide you with the comprehensive guide to decluttering your home and putting some extra cash in your packet.
How do you think your life could change if you got rid of some of the stuff tying you down? You don't have to go as far as we did, but you'll benefit from our extreme experience no matter big or small your decluttering project may be. We know decluttering inside and out, and you can take advantage of our experience to create your own clutter-free zone for relaxing, socializing, and spending time with family and friends.

Nothing new, not inspiring
Some of it is good advice but nothing new. I didn't like the narration, they sounded really condescending and it was not fun to listen to or inspiring. I'm mad that I wasted a credit on this. It is pretty short but I still only made it through 2/3 of the book.
As far as the book's content, a lot of the advice is common sense or may not be feasible for everyone. There was a lot of advice that involved selling things online, which I do (in fact I have my own business on etsy) but listing the items and taking photos takes forever and is incredibly tedious. Then there is the process of shipping or setting up pickups. It's a lot to go through for most items and then they may not sell. Saying you will make $1000s doing this is pretty misleading. They also plug a lot of products and websites.

Okay, but there are better books out there
I honestly struggled to finish this book. The narrators' voices do not keep me engaged and the tips and selling ideas they discuss, everyone already knows about. It just seems like there really isn't a lot of material to be learned here. I was also hoping it would be motivational, and it is not.

Finally!
What made the experience of listening to Getting Rid of It the most enjoyable?
I got it done. Clear voices, clear ideas, cleared it out. They even tell you what to do with the piles.
What other book might you compare Getting Rid of It to and why?
I joke that I have a shelf in my library of declutter books. This is the only one I need.
What does Betsy Talbot and Warren Talbot bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Hearing them talk gives you the chance to imagine what your life will be like. I listened to the book whilst decluttering.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I got so much done, in such little time. Their mindset transfers well, and I'm getting the job done with no regrets.
Any additional comments?
Don't delay. What a relief!

best wife and husband team
the fact that this is the first book that doesn't lecture, yeah. it is a nice, young couple explaining feelings, how to's , getting rid of in such a positive way. when you are done with the book they also mention online classes and a code to get a discount. its nice that the couple's life has changed in such a positive way from getting rid of clutter.read but don't delete because it is a book to read again because the sound of their voices (wife and husband team) is mentally uplifting.
