Chris Carter in his absolute top form! It's one of those books that take you on an adventure and don't let go until the very last page (or, in this case, the last second.)

To Mr. Carter, respect and thanks for expanding the Robert Hunter universe with another expertly crafted mystery.

To Mr. Judd, a true Robert Hunter series veteran, thank you for bringing the story to life with an amazing performance.

Overall, a must-listen story!

Dark, gripping, and suspenseful

Excellent storyline ( I wanted to give 5stars, but my phone is playing up.) As my title says, most thought provoking. It illustrates well grief, shock, despair, trauma retribution and consequences. It’s left me pondering on the long term effects for the survivors.
The main character, DI Hunter is is interesting and well drawn, but I found DIGarcia and CaptainBanks very two dimensional. I realise that they are mainly there as a sounding board for DI Hunter, but I would have likes their input to have been more substantial and their characters fleshed out more.
The descriptions of characters’ responses and emotions were clearly and concisely portrayed, but there were times when I felt I was listening to an American, detective tv show, which is not great. However, overall it was an intriguing novel, which I won’t forget in a hurry.

I absolutely love Chris’s books and this one was no exception so I was so excited for the audiobook. I’ve loved all the others which have been read by Thomas Judd, for me he is the voice of Robert Hunter. But to me this one sounds different, like it’s been read too slow so I listen to it sped up a bit. I still enjoy it though and hope that by the next book things will be back to normal 🤞🏻
