A clear and compelling discussion of how the church can better reach, support and champion black congregation members. From the UK church’s complicity in the transatlantic slave trade to the whitewashing of Christianity throughout history, the church has a lot to answer for when it comes to race relations. Christianity has been dubbed the white man’s religion, yet the Bible speaks of an impartial God and shows us a diverse body of believers. It’s time for the church to start talking about race.

Story
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples. Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

On account of the superficial points of agreement between Islam and Christianity, many don't see how tremendously deep the divides between them really are, and fewer still have considered the evidence for each faith. How is jihad different from the Crusades? Can we know the life of Jesus as well as the life of Muhammad? What reason is there to believe in one faith over the other, and what difference can the Gospel really make?

Summary
“I used to be a lesbian.”
In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?
At age 19, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward him right in her own bedroom in light of his gospel.
Listen in order to understand. Listen in order to hope. Or listen in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

It wasn’t what I expected!
This is more than a testimony of freedom. It’s more than a personal story being shared.
This if you let it is a book that will open up your very soul to meet LOVE himself!
This is more than a focus on how do I or how dare she!
This book has unexpectedly changed my life, the life I felt was open and free. As I listened to it intently from the beginning to the end, it opened me up and poured love into me giving me a freedom I didn’t know I needed.
I am glad, so very glad that I have experienced this journey towards the Good God, Jackie Perry-Hill speaks of!

It's a testimony that needed to be shared for people like me. I'm from a transgender background who has recently been saved and it took me 3 months to read this book because I was so afraid of hearing the truth regarding my identity and how God sees it. Thank you so much for this. I'm on the journey of returning to my authentic gender and even though it's a narrow road, it's testimonies like these that keep me going! Thank you Jackie.

A Call for Personal Reflection
I first picked up this book to learn more , as I know people who identify as gay and I want to understand and have compassion.
I love that this book was more than that. We heard her story, but also heard the undeniable thread of God’s love and call to all of us. It was, for me, a reminder to keep looking at him, worshipping him, believing in him. He will do the work in all of us...
It’s about Jesus. It’s about God. It’s about the Holy Spirit and being surrendered. All of us.
It’s about responding to the call that he has placed on our lives and living in a way that glorifies him.
Amen. Thank you, Jackie Hill Perry. ❤️

Jackie is a POET! A veteran! Definitely not what I was expecting!
This book is define my not what I’d expected. It had been recommended to me before and I always said I would read it but had always found other books to pick up instead. I decided to give it a listen and my gosh, it was absolutely worth it.
Her writing style is excellent and dare I say, absolutely Jackie! Every line, every chapter contributed to questions that I had to persoanlym engage with God for my own personal life.
A book for believers who may experience same sex attraction, those who do not. It’s not just a book about a girl who struggle from the same sex attraction but truly a Psalm 66:16 as she stated! It is bigger than that. It’s about a good God who redeem one woman and now her story shows forth the glory of God! With all due respect to Jackie, I love how she highlighted not her own self but through her life, how God is glorified! My gosssshhhhh, just fantastic! Would recommend this book to another and I will most definitely will be listening to it again!

The Raw, Un-Sugar Coated Truth
I loved this book. Mrs. Perry did a fine job of demonstrating how homosexuality is less a sin so powerful that everyone doesn’t know how to deal with, but more of a sin just like all other sin with the core being one thing: unbelief. Mrs. Perry does a fine job of presenting the LOVE for God as the primary focus when dealing with not just homosexuality but also all other sin. She really shows how God is much more interested in us enjoying Him in freedom than He is making everyone straight. Simply put, God wants to show mankind that He truly is—in all aspect of body, soul, and spirit—enough for each and everyone one of us.

I'm sure there's a lot of preconceived ideas of what this book could be about and contain, but I really doubt it comes close to containing anything that you would think! I finished this in two days. It is amazing, read very well by the author, and contains truth that pertains to all sin not just the sin of homosexuality. I'm going to recommend it to everyone!

Phenominal
Honestly, I was scared to listen to this one. As a heterosexual long time Christian I didn't want to get "yelled at" for all of the idiotic ways Christians have sinned against, mis-represented the Bible and Jesus to their Gay neighbors and I was terrified also that the author (one I am familiar with hearing from through various conferences and speaking engagements) would suddenly say something that would make me confused or doubtful about what the Bible says and Who God is.
This book did none of the above. In fact, it did the opposite. This book simply is her story weaved with scripture and the truth of Who God really is and What He has done for all of us. This book defined Womanhood in a beautiful gospel-driven way. This book pointed me to Christ and what He has done to transform all sinners into saints. It's a must read wherever you are in your faith. Believer or not, Gay or straight, this author has something valuable to say and it's quick read is well worth the time it takes to listen.

How to know if this book is for you:
How to know if this book is worth your time:
If you believe that homosexuality is a sin to overcome, this book will encourage you and fill you with hope.
If you believe you are born with your sexual orientation, this book will infuriate you and you do not need to spend your time here.
Everyone is entitled to tell their story, but this book goes far beyond just a memoir. The last 1/4 of the book focuses on denial of your sexuality and even stops using the word gay to substitute it with “same sex attracted Christians”.
While she tries to justify this renaming by saying we are more than our titles, she continues to use the title “straight” for heterosexual couples and does not apply an “opposite sex attracted Christian” to them.
This is sure to be a conversion therapy bookclub best seller. If they can’t get you to convert, then this book will teach you to stuff those feelings and emotions.

Absolutely Beautiful
I couldn't help but cry multiple times as I listened to this woman speak about God's true nature. This little book sheds a new light on how heterosexual Christians can better love and understand and witness the love of Jesus Christ to the gay community. Saturated in scripture, the love of God, and the love for same sex attracted men and women, my eyes have been opened to how much I did not understand - though this book is a Christian woman's testimony, I almost felt like I could fill in the blanks with multiple aspects of sin that I struggle with in my daily life. This book points directly at who Jesus is, how much He loves us. and how incredibly difficult yet, overwhelmingly joyous choosing to follow Him can be. Thank you Jesus.

Raw, Real and Redemptive
What I am about to say is not hyperbole. This book is in my Top Five of the best books I have ever listened to, read, heard of, etc. Jackie Hill Perry shares such vulnerability from her heart while giving an outstanding performance of the words she has written. I have often wondered what the metrics might be on how humans put words and phrases together. Most people use many of the same phrases to describe life or events, without much creativity. Hill Perry has leaped high over that fence, writing so eloquently as she shares her very raw, yet very real story. This is not a book about judgement or criticism; it is the personal story of one woman who, in finding out how much she is loved by her Creator God, finds redemption in the truth of His word. Her story rocked my soul.

First, amazing book! It is well written and paints a picture of what it truly looks like to follow Christ even though trying times. I felt as though she was speaking to my heart. I recommend this read for everyone no matter your race, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality. This was truly humbling!
