About this listen

Who do you trust when you have no one left but yourself? Kenzie is a military-trained assassin, hunting her target in Mexico. Cori is a student at the University of Guadalajara. One fateful afternoon their lives will come together under a flurry of gunfire.

Questioning the lies around them, they will soon learn that they can not live without each other. On the run from an unknown enemy, they must learn to trust each other, and to believe they'll make it out alive.

I was really looking forward to hearing this. And in the introduction, and quote to start the chapter, the narrator sounded fine.

Then, beginning the story itself, the tone changed, and she whispered, the whole darned way. It was like straining to hear somebody whispering across a table at you.

I haven't heard this narrator before, so I don't know if this is her usual style, or if it was what she was directed to do for dramatic affect. Whatever it was, it doesn't work. At all.

Sadly, I shall be returning the audio book, and just reading this on my Kindle. Which is a real shame, because I much prefer audio books.

If you want to buy this, I strongly recommend you listen to the audio sample first. I didn't because I preordered this on the Amazon store page when I bought the Kindle book.

What is the narrator doing?
