The author Williston Walker (1860 - 1922) was an American Church historian from Portland, ME. He graduated from Amherst in 1883, from the Hartford Theological Seminary in 1886, and finally studied at Leipzig, earning his PhD in 1888. Walker then took a position at the Hartford Seminary from 1889 to 1901 and later accepted a position at Yale University.
