About this listen

Richard Hatch, known to millions of sci-fi fans as Captain Apollo and Tom Zarek, has recorded an audio book of his memoirs of both the original and re-imagined versions of Battlestar Galactica. His experiences on both versions of Battlestar Galactica are vividly recalled as he shares many indelible memories of the iconic actors he appeared alongside, and the challenges and barriers one of the most expensive shows in TV history faced at a time when networks were highly sceptical of Sci-fi in general.

Hatch passed away in 2017 and this audio book gives us his recollections and gave Richard Hatch the opportunity to reflect, on the two very different Battlestar series, and the life changing journey he had taken over 35 years ‘From Apollo to Tom Zarek’.

I'm old enough to have been a fan of both incarnations of Battlestar Galactica: the family show that I watched as a teenager in the 1970s, and the more edgy version I appreciated as an adult in the 21st century. The late Richard Hatch is the link between the two, having played roles in both. This is him discussing both series in warts and all fashion and sharing his thoughts about the characters he played. Sadly, Mr Hatch is no longer with us, but he has left us his insights in his own words, providing an essential insight for two generations of Galactica fans.
