Summary

Following his explosive #1 New York Times bestseller, Red Notice, Bill Browder returns with another gripping thriller chronicling how he exposed Vladimir Putin's campaign to steal and launder hundreds of billions of dollars from Russia—and how Putin is willing to kill anyone who stands in his way.

When Browder’s young Russian lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, was beaten to death in a Moscow jail in 2009, Browder cast aside his business career and made it his life’s mission to pursue justice for Sergei. One of the first steps of that mission was to uncover who had killed Sergei and profited from the $230 million corruption scheme that he had exposed. As Browder and his team tracked the money that flowed out of Russia—through the Baltics and Cyprus and on to Western Europe and the Americas—they discovered that Vladimir Putin himself was one of the beneficiaries of the crime.

After Western law enforcement agencies began freezing the money, Putin retaliated. He and his cronies set honey traps for Browder, hired agents to chase him around the globe, murdered more of Browder’s Russian allies, and enlisted some of the West’s top lawyers and politicians in an attempt to bring Browder down. Putin will stop at nothing to protect his wealth and power. As Freezing Order reveals, Browder’s campaign was a main impetus for Putin’s intervention in the 2016 US presidential election.

At once a financial caper, an international adventure, and a passionate plea for justice, Freezing Order is a stirring morality tale about how one man can take on one of the most dangerous and ruthless villains in the world.

An incredible story which we should all read!

We have all seen the headlines regarding Russia, Trump, Boris opening up London to oligarchs, poisonings, Salisbury, rigged elections, money laundering….This book connects the dots!

An unbelievable story exposing Russia.

Compelling! Every sane person on the planet has suspected Vladimir Putin of being a corrupt, power crazy thug. This book confirms what we have all though. What we didn't know is how complicit other countries, and especially banks, have been in his development!!!

Maybe there's a glimmer of hope in mankind

Most people turn a blind eye to human rights abuses as long as it doesn't hurt their interests. Let alone those prestigious people who help to cover up or even facilitate it. Surprisingly, there are still some people (although absolute minority) brave enough to stand up to powerful dictators and their enablers. Maybe there's still some hope in mankind.

A little disappointing

As far as I am concerned, Freezing Order was rather second rate.

This really surprised me as Red Notice was first rate. It courageously made a necessary statement, gave voice to decry the high level crime and corruption in Russia, made some very dirty laundry public that sorely needed, it and gave a lot of Ruskies an uncomfortable jolt who were getting a tad too complacent.

This work leads on from Red Notice, but is just pale by comparison to it.

Gossipy, self-centred, over dramatises its subject, Bill, who comes across as a man who the whole sordid world is out to get.

Numero Uno on Putin’s hotlist? Perhaps. But if so, Vladimir who as we know, is a very dangerous man indeed, with all the resources of the Kremlin at his disposal, fails to nail Dangerous Bill.

If voters just knew how difficult they would be making things for Mr Browder by casting their votes for Putin’s Orange Trump Puppet, they would have certainly demurred.

You can see the point, the point is Bill. Bill bigging himself up. I wouldn’t have minded, as long as it was true.

On this one, Big Bill didn’t convince me that it actually was.

But still, probably not a waste of time, or credit.

Fascinating - but some repetition

It’s an incredible story I have followed closely. But there is some repetition in this sequel. And it’s a touch disappointing it has not been updated with geopolitical implications of the war in Ukraine.

Red Notice Part II —- The Empire Struck Out

Red Notice was going to be a hard act to follow. But Browder nimbly and grippingly did so. Not to say that the real life Bond Villains threatening him did not give him plenty of material to work with. These villains aren’t just Russians, either. Many are stateside … and one lived in the White House for four years. If you want to understand how Russia became a kleptocracy and why it’s attempting to control western governments through agitprop and assassination read (or listen to) Brower’s books. You will have a hard time putting them down (or turning the audio versions off).

A Must but start with Red Notice

Could not stop listening. It was eye opening and captivating. You should start by listening to Red Notice as this book is more or less a sequel.
Bill Browder is a man on a mission to avenge the death of Sergei Magnitsky. He is smart, courageous and determined.

Matches Red Notice excellence

There’s only one BIG issue with this book. You may find yourself listening cover to cover without stopping. Cheers to another amazing book, well written and timely.

Chilling, fascinating, powerful

Browder’s timely sequel to Red Notice is written with brutal honesty, uncovering sinister and illegal elements of many governments, particularly Purim’s Russia. Sadly some Americans are on this list; fortunately most are not. This non-fiction work is an audio “page turner.” Adam Grupper’s narration is flawless. I admire Browder’s tenacity and courage. I strongly recommend this book.

Truth is so powerful

In times that truth telling is so hard to come by, Freezing Order sets the bar. Although, I only know Bill through his books and the media, I can tell that he knows how to tie his moral shoelaces and carry the weight of doing the right things for his friends.

It was a great read like like a real intriguing mystery except this was reality And a dangerous reality. Reminds me of a Grissom novel.
