About this listen

A thrilling World War One spy story from the author of the acclaimed Jack Haldean series.

"There's a spy in England. Frankie's letter. Read Frankie's letter...." The last words said by a dying man to Anthony Brooke in Kiel in Germany during the height of World War One. But who is Frankie?< /p>

With his cover blown and the German army at his heels, English secret agent Anthony Brooke's search to discover the truth leads him to an innocent-seeming country house. Here, deep within the English countryside, as Anthony uncovers a web of spies, treachery and terrorists, the war becomes close and very personal.

A reasonably engrossing story with a few unexpected twists… would recommend to readers of the spy/thriller genre!!

An enjoyable listen

Action scenes were well written. The narration was very good. However, the twists in the story were guessable well before they happened. The writing, apart from the action scenes, wasn't great. Some of the plot points were truly unbelievable!
Not a book I would listen to again, but it was very good for a free read.

A very old fashioned tale, and all the better for it! Highly enjoyable, well paced & with lots of good characters. The narration was second to none, and he even managed to do a Belfast accent without making this Belfast fella not cringe too much!
You can spot the twists coming, so if you’re into complex mystery solving you may be disappointed, but as good clean entertainment it’s enjoyable.

This novel was so good that I was sorry when it was over. I definitely want to read/hear more books by this author. The narrator was excellent, convincingly acting all the voices, all the accents, both male and female. Sound quality was also excellent. I was very pleased that this novel contains no sex, no bad language, and no weird ideas. There was very little violence. A good traditional mystery with a likeable hero you can identify with and admire.

Excellent spy mystery
