I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this one but the narrator cinched it for me. I really enjoyed listening to this. I liked the storyline, I guessed the ‘person’ however it was a fun ride getting there. Great book to listen to while pottering around.

Author good at setting scene and creating nuance - narrator is mostly just reading the words feels a bit like story time in the library particularly as the character voices and accents are inconsistent which makes it tricky to work out who is speaking - feels like she could improve over time but took a bit too much concentration. That said it’s not awful and worth it if you lije police procedural ms without too much gore

I found that the story was engaging and the narrator was perfect. I liked the way she spoke for Birmingham, really made me rethink the way we put down a whole city with stupid prejudices. It’s echoed in the prejudices that the protagonist faces, and it was satisfying that she is truly appreciated in the end.

Good storyline, though I did struggle to follow at times and the narration I found difficult to warm to. It appeared a very long drawn out listen to me.
