Summary

We join Montana, recently returned from an impromptu study abroad trip, a bit wiser, a bit broader in perspective, and a lot freaked out by the once-dead person who's currently in his bedroom.

Possible zombie sightings aside, he's finally ready to take his job as Duke seriously. And just in time too - not only are the politics of the capital rapidly closing in on Montana's little valley holding, but there are also goblins to negotiate with. Plus, that cult threatening to take the lives of his citizens.

Montana will have to pull off the impossible - walk amongst the highest levels of Vuldranni society to influence world politics, and slaughter a few goblins in the process.

I hate this author. His books are good

I absolutely hate this author seriously this book almost feels like a waste of a credit. I’m finished in under 20 hours easy every single time I start one of these. He is a fantastic novelist. I’d say his series is a true 5 star series. I’ve listened multiple times and I’m still excited every time I listen.if he has a job out side of writing I hope he gets fired and has to start writing full time because I’m really annoyed at how quick his books go by then have to wait months for a sequel. Seriously though listen to the series if you haven’t yet. This is one of the best in it and I can’t wait to have some of the leveling stuff explained.

Fantastic!

Another fantastic book in the series! Neil does a great job with all the voices, its just so good. Eric Ugland isone of a very very few authors that I instantly buy, even if I'm already reading another book, you just can't go wrong with his books.

Hardly any progression

Hardly any progression. If you want to read about a long simple plotted quest, that you can guess the outcome in 2 minutes of reading, go for it. Few things happen. A recap in the next book will cover everything that was important in a paragraph. Yep, the whole 8 hours can litteraly be summed up in a one paragraph and thats the advancement of your story. So the only real reason to get this book is if your out of stuff to listen too. A light book that maintains some of the humor from previous books for a bland side quest.

Can’t get enough

I don’t know Eric Ugland does it; but I get sucked in every time!! Can’t wait for the next one. I also love the narration by Neil Hellengers. I find myself looks for more audio books he narrates.

Absolutely Amazing

Not used to writing reviews but cant help myself here. I can undoubtedly say this series is and most likely will stay my favorite book series I've ever listened to. Couldn't find a fault if I tried. I honestly can't wait for the next one.

Montana goes a'huntin' for the Master ...

Emeline makes her re-entrance into the series and convinces Montana and a few of his hiro to join her to rid Osterstadt of the Master and save the city. Even though her explanation for not being dead is a bit far-fetched but convincing because... Ugland. What follows is a harrowing romp through the city battling monsters galore from the Emerald Sea invading the city; all the while the city is being terrified further by many unknown missing citizens. Lots of action, lopped heads, satire and hilarious dialog ensues. While there are too many to highlight, the one that really caught me off-guard was when Bear became so frustrated at the delay in finding the master that she blurted out "Now let's go get a f'ing vampire." with Montana replies, "Does it have to be f'ing?" to which Bear replies, "Not funny." the delivery was so well deadpaned that I burst into a fit of laughter. Such a fun series and I'm also enthralled with his The Bad Guys series, as well. Together Eric and Neil Hellegers team up like fantasy pushers, offering one addicting series after another.
