About this listen

DISCOVER THE SAGA BEHIND THE APPLE TV+ ORIGINAL SERIES

From a grand master of science fiction comes the long awaited final novel of one of the greatest series ever told. Completed just before his death, FORWARD THE FOUNDATION is a crowning achievement and stirring testament to the creative genius of Isaac Asimov.

As Hari Seldon struggles to perfect his revolutionary theory of psychohistory and ensure a place for humanity among the stars, the once-mighty Galactic Empire totters on the brink of apocalyptic collapse. Caught in the maelstrom are Seldon and all he holds dear, pawns in the struggle for dominance. Whoever can control Seldon will control psychohistory—and with it the future of the galaxy.

Among those seeking to turn psychohistory into the greatest weapon known to man are a populist political demagogue, the weak-willed Emperor Cleon I, and a ruthless militaristic general. In his last act of service to humankind, Hari Seldon must somehow save his life's work from their grasp as he searches for his true heirs—a search that begins with his own granddaughter and the dream of a new Foundation.

I wasn't keen on starting another series, but this caught my attention. It's an intriguing plot, with some fantastic ideas. The way it maps the fall of society in a little scary at times.

William Hope immediately reminds me of his role in Aliens. As a narrator, though, he far outstrips others. Of all the other North American continental readers (yes, I know he's Canadian) he's the only person I can say who can truly manage an authentic English accent. That aside, his complete range of accents is amazing.

Classic Asimov

An excellent prequel to the original trilogy, I really enjoyed listening to this absorbing book.

An excellent book

This series, as noted by the author in one of the prologues, is full of inconsistencies due to the span of years separating their writing. But, if you can look past this and accept each as connected with liberties, this is another great addition to the series

Another good addition to the story

This book has been plubkished after the classic trilogy. Make sure to start from the first book in the series, to get the most out of this great story.

It’s good to be revisiting Asimov’s magnificent Foundation series through these well narrated audiobooks. The excellent Apple adaptation comes often to mind as the chapters flow by. A timely release of a series of SciFi classics. (Michael).
