Summary

NYT and USA Today best-selling author!

He's a tradesman; she's a marchioness. They have only one thing in common....

Having married once out of desperation, the virgin widow Lady Belden has no intention of giving up her independence - until her long-lost siblings arrive on her doorstep. By law their guardianship belongs to the power-hungry marquess of Belden, but Bell will defy law and society to keep her newly reunited family together.

Formidable in trade, unlucky in love, Lord Quentin Hoyt has eyed Lady Bell from afar - not just because she possesses the family fortune but because she's the most desirable woman he's ever met. Now that the widowed Bell is ripe for seduction, the shrewd Scotsman is prepared to negotiate the business merger of his lifetime. Who will be the victor when the imperial Lady Bell engages the clever Lord Quentin in a battle of wits over life, lust, and love?

Irritating narration

The narrator gallops along with poor pronunciation and pathetic characterisation. I didn't get past the second chapter.

Loved it

Loved the whole series. They made me laugh, there were quite a few funny one liners with a lot of English humor. In this last one I also cried.
The narrator was very good especially when she changed to an Irish accent. There are very few female narrators I like but Eliza Jane Cornell was good.
Thank you audible for the free gift.
And thank you Patricia Rice for writing such an entertaining series.
I wish the would be more of this same series.

She finally finds love

Lady Bell has been proper for so many years and when her siblings whom she haven’t seen in over 10 years show up on her door step she can hardly believe it. She has missed them and also fins out he’s has a 6 yr old brother who know is the new Earl.
When she informs Quentin about her new found family, she must fight the new Marquees (Quentins father) for guardianship.
Lord Quentin Hoyt has loved Bell from afar for so many years and know has away to get her into his life and bed. He devises a plan to marry her so she can keep her family! I loved these 2 characters together in the last 3 books bringing together there own story. A wonderful read where love finally hits home! The narrator was amazing!

It was so good

Made me laugh hard. I enjoyed the characters and neither the hero or the heroine acted too silly for words. I would listen again

Dime Store Novel

I suppose some people must like reading romance novels with the most basic of plots which has been done over and over. Olden days girl "inherits" children through the death of her parents; however in that society females can't really inherit much of anything and have to have an overseer. She can't keep the children unless she marries. Along comes a cad with no money who woes and romances her. They're in lust and love until something makes one doubt the other but that eventually gets clarified and they live lustfully ever after.

The plot even though worn might deserve a few more stars if it were fleshed out a bit. The second Quentin sees Bell, he's ready to bed her simply because he saw her bare feet. Oh PLEEESSSE. In like style Bell is all a flutter about Quentin without anything more than lust as a motivation. I've read better fleshed out plots by amateur writers. This could easily be written in a week. Thank goodness it was free.

My least favorite out of the series

I couldn't decide between 3 and 4 stars but overall I did like it but I would say that it's more like 3 1/2 stars. In all of the series I didn't care for the men throughout parts of the books but this time it was the h I didn't care for. She wasn't very nice to him and put him off for too long for my liking but I do love insta-love so maybe that was just me. I also could never understand throughout the entire series why she was giving all female relations an inheritance but she never offered one to Quentin's sisters. I guess because of their dad but I didn't like that. Overall it was good enough.

Headstrong Scottish man vs Headstrong Stubborn Irish Woman

If there are two more stubborn groups of people in the world I would be surprised. The Scottish and the Irish hero and heroine are by far two of the most stubborn people that the English Ton have dealt with, this book show that life for women have not always been easy. But stubbornness and love can move mountains if you’ll let it.

Confusing

The author tried so hard to tie the other books in the series into this book that This story was lost in confusion. It had a good story line that could have developed well but characters kept popping into the story that apparently had been introduced in a different book and it left me feeling like I was listening into someone else’s conversation. The main characters had a very long past that was alluded to but again ... It felt lacking. True, I had not read any other in the series but I believe a book should be independent enough to be read individually and make you Want to read the others.
