Summary

Darlene Montgomery has been to hell and back...more than once. After a stint in jail for drug possession, she is finally clean and ready to start over. Yet another failed relationship is just the motivation she needs to move from New York to San Francisco with the hopes of resurrecting her dance career and discovering that she is more than the sum of her rap sheet. As Darlene struggles in her new city, the last thing she wants is to become entangled with her handsome - but cranky - neighbor and his adorable little girl....

Sawyer Haas is weeks away from finishing law school, but exhaustion, dwindling finances, and the pressure to provide for himself and his daughter, Olivia, are wearing him down. A federal clerkship - a job he desperately needs - awaits him after graduation, but only if he passes the bar exam. Sawyer doesn't have the time or patience for the capricious - if beautiful - dancer who moves into the apartment above his. But Darlene's easy laugh and cheerful spirit seep into the cracks of his hardened heart, and slowly break down the walls he's resurrected to keep from being betrayed ever again.

When the parents of Olivia's absentee mother come to fight for custody, Sawyer could lose everything. To have any chance at happiness, he must trust Darlene, the woman who has somehow found her way past his brittle barbs, and Darlene must decide how much of her own bruised heart she is willing to give to Sawyer and Olivia, especially when the ghosts of her troubled past refuse to stay buried.

Contains mature themes.

Emma Scott never fails to engage my heart

Every time I start an Emma Scott book, I'm immediately pulled into the story and fully invested in the characters. Forever right now was no exception. Darlene and Sawyer are so genuine; their hopes and fears make perfect sense, and I as the reader/listener was desperate for a path to open up that they could traverse it together. Thank you, Ms. Scott. Your books are a gift, and your characters are vivid, passionate, and memorable. The narration was perfect. I'm glad this is a title I own because I know I'll return to it again with pleasure.

Great Book

I really enjoyed the story and enjoyed having two narrators, one for the man & one for the woman...just wish they'd both narrated it a lil different... have the man narrate all the man parts & the woman do the same.

I LOVED IT!!! I WANT MORE!! LOL

This was a wonderful story, not your typical single daddy story,,,this one had a little twist to it!! Sawyer the Lawyer and Darlene the Dancer...mix in Livvie and you got a great emotional story of 2 people meeting when they needed someone most, and how understanding, acceptance and love is all tied together!! I laughed, cried and couldn't put it down,Caitlin Kelly gifted me this one on request by me, because she is just wonderful like that..I love her work..and I also love Greg Tremblay...they both were amazing in this one..and I will be adding it to my relisten pile!!! LOVED IT!! AND I RECOMMEND!!!!

Sweet, swoony, angsty, and impossible to forget

Darlene: new to San Francisco, Dancer, Massage Therapist, attends NA
Sawyer: single dad, law student, studying for the Bar exam
Olivia: Sawyer’s daughter, the most precious little baby girl
Sawyer is stand-offish at first but Darlene’s charisma wears him down and they become friends. And eventually more.
These two are literally fighting their own internal battles. Sawyer struggles with “absolutes” in his worldview. He is rigid in his beliefs that there is right/wrong especially within the law and no gray areas. Darlene challenges his worldview as well as other circumstances including his daughter that I do not want to spoil. Darlene struggles with her addiction as well as her identity. "I will always be an addict even if you put the word 'recovering' in front of it. I will always have to work ten times as hard to be trusted, to be trustworthy but that's the price I have to pay for my mistakes"
"You deserve to be loved as you are, Darlene. Not in bits and pieces"

more drama than romance

This is my first time listening/reading from this author. I found this story in the romance genre but it felt like it's in the wrong category. I was disappointed when there was so much drama and didn't feel it was a love story. I was already more than halfway in the story and felt like the author just drag on and on. I actually had to speed up the reading because I cant stand all the drama. The narrators were superb! they were the reason kept me listening. I didn't want to stop since I was already invested, I was waiting for the balance of rom/dram but there were none so I gave up and stop listening. What a shame on my part. Although this story was fiction, I'm puzzled why the author didn't give the hero a paternity test before taking the baby or at least inform the reader. is this a mystery story? It was obvious the mother was messed up. nevertheless, I wanted to give this author high rating but feel like I should be honest with my opinion. I was hesitant since the story was well written. That said, if you a drama lover than romance, this one is for you!

All the feels and all the stars!

Oh my gosh! I am kicking myself for waiting this long to read an Emma Scott book! This was just wonderful! Sawyer, Darlene, and little Olivia just broke my heart and then put it back together piece by piece. The narration was great. I will definitely be reading more from Ms. Scott!

"Everything good in my life is because of you"

4.5 ⭐️ 🌟 ⭐️🌟
Oh Emma Scott how I love you and your beautiful writing! Darlene is on the road to redemption and finding herself. She moves to San Francisco for a fresh start. Then you have Sawyer who’s life is black and white for him and he’s navigating through his new normal. Neither were looking for love or a mate but their story unfolded beautifully. Scott did a great job of taking you on Sawyer and Darlene’s journey. You felt all the highs and lows and rooted for the success of the relationship. The supporting characters were great. Awesome story!

A Pure Delight

Emma Scott, never fails to bring the reader into her world of greatness. I Started to listen to Forever Right Now, a month ago but put it down thinking do I really want to listen to a story about an unfortunate baby daddy law student. I was wrong, yesterday I re-started play and I was hooked. I had to finish, Forever Right Now in one sitting. Matter of fact my spare room which I have been putting off to get rid of clutter is now clean top to bottom. Thank you, Forever Right Now, I would’ve have done it without such a great audible. Sawyer Haas, is an exceptional loyal 24 yr young man. Not only does he take care of a baby, that was abandoned by its mother, he is going thru his final year of law school, which is no easy task. Sawyer’s life events are so emotional, which makes him see everything in black and white. And then there is Darlene, Sawyer’s new upstairs neighbor, who finds a way to shave off Sawyer’s armored self. Darlene is trying to get past a life that was once destructive, hence why she is living in SF. She is such a delight and exudes happiness to all the lives she encounters. The story is such a emotional roller coaster. It will make you cry and laugh. There are a lot of oh no and oh yes moments. The sub characters were just as precious from the baby daughter to the caretaker & especially the best friend, Jackson along w/ his mother. The narrators really pulled it off. They were exceptional expressing Sawyer’s and Darlene’s emotions. There isn’t a great audible w/o a good narrator. I was happy to hear a compassionate Caitlin Kelly, she did an extraordinary job with ES’s, Full Tilt series, an emotional tear jerker series. (Listen to these two books they don’t disappoint). Once again listen to Forever Right Now, it will not disappoint you. Matter of fact I am currently re-listening as I’m submitting this review. Thank you Emma Scott.
