I’ve always been fascinated by forensic science but found most resources way too technical or overloaded with jargon. This audiobook was the perfect entry point. It breaks things down clearly without dumbing them down, and the real-life case examples kept it engaging the whole way through. I especially appreciated how it tackled common myths from crime shows and explained what really happens at a crime scene. If you're curious about forensics but don’t know where to start, this is a fantastic listen.

It's been over a decade since I left science and academia, I’ve got a background in molecular biology and pathology, and I was curious to see how forensics is being explained to the general audience these days. This book was well paced, and full of the kind of foundational material I forgot I loved.

The narration was steady, clean, and engaging. It didn’t over-dramatize or dumb anything down, which made it easy to listen to while still respecting the science.

What brought it home for me was the section on chain of custody and contamination risk. That took me right back to the lab—protocols, precision, and the absolute importance of clean handling. It reminded me why I loved lab work and the purpose behind it.

If you’ve got a science background and want to dip back into forensics, or if you’re just curious about how this stuff actually works beyond TV, this is a great listen

I’ve always been curious about forensic science, but most resources felt too dense or too TV-drama. This audiobook struck the perfect balance—clear explanations without dumbing things down, and real case studies that made it all click. The breakdown of DNA, fingerprints, and autopsies was especially fascinating, and I finally understand how the chain of custody really works. It’s surprisingly engaging for a subject that can easily get overwhelming.

I didn’t expect to fly through a book on forensic science, but this one really pulls you in. Max Donavan does a fantastic job of explaining complex topics without making it feel like a textbook. The step-by-step breakdown of how fingerprints are collected and analyzed was especially cool, like when he described how ridge patterns are matched manually before running them through a database. That hands-on clarity made it stick. The DNA section was also way less intimidating than I thought it would be. You don’t need a science background at all, this is written for the curious everyday reader. I appreciated the real-world case examples too, which made the whole thing feel relevant and exciting. Whether you're a true crime fan or just love learning something new, this book is worth it.
