Summary

Merham is a well-ordered 50s seaside town - the kind of town where everyone knows their place (and those who don't are promptly put in it).

Lottie Swift is an evacuee who has grown up with the respectable Holden family and loves Merham. The Holden's daughter Celia, however, chafes against the constraints on the town and longs to escape....

It took me a while to get into the characters set in the past but once I did I loved them!! She's a fantastic story teller I will miss the characters now it's over. Brilliant book can't wait for the next one!!

Slow burner but stick with it!!!

Not enough plot for length, cliché characters. Okay for an easy holiday read. Narrator good.

Too long

I found this a bit of a slog to get through actually, for me it never really got going and the two main stories were unconnected and messy with a lot of peripheral activity which didn't add to the story. I wouldn't recommend this book sadly.

I wanted to like this as it's JoJo Moyes

the storyline is a bit predictable and in some areas a tick melodramatic, but overall it is uplifting in mood and never unbelievable...

characters evolve and mature, which is nice and adds credit to the story...

perspectives and timelines are interesting...

I cannot see myself re reading this book, but as stated above it is good to be cheered up on a rainy day...

By far the worst I’ve mojo Moyes books I’ve read.. What made it worse
Is it started so well I listened to part one in one go and was really looking forward to the characters progressing with the story
I was deeply disappointed ....To say more would give to many spoilers ..I am a big Moyes fan
