Moira is such a wonderful character so full of heart and strength with a sense of duty and honour that she starts to question as the story unfolds. I really love that she doesn't seem to make judgements about those around her even if she disagrees with them she is willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and prove to her that they are more than they seem.
Adrian, big scary king of all vampires who turns out to be a total dork at times, is just one such individual, Moiras preconceived ideas about him begin to change when he kills a rouge vampire and brings one of the humans who work for him child to her in an effort to save them. She sees the deverstation in him when it's too late and takes the extraordinary step of pulling on all of her magic to save the child.
When Adrian is threatened Moira makes a choice and I can't wait to see where the future take these two. Big, scary guy who becomes a total dork trying to tell the woman he loves he likes her is one of my favourite things and that's what Adrian becomes around Moira. I really love that dynamic of their relationship that he can feel openly vulnerable around her and she isn't afraid to let her strength shine with him.
Olivia Jannesson is a wonderful narrator bringing these characters to life in vivid colour and really helping draw you into the story and care about what happens to them.
