About this listen

What if everything forbidden to me—freedom, love, pleasure—could be mine? Would I be brave enough to take it?

Five years ago, Josie Porter's life was about to begin: she was going to escape her abusive family, move in with her best friend, and start college. Now, scarred from years of government torture in the Designation Academy, her dreams are long gone. Her only goal now is to survive.

With the Designation Government out to pair every omega with often brutal alpha packs, Josie has to turn to black-market suppressants to disguise her biology. When the supply runs out, Josie can no longer run from her designation.

Cam, Ben, and Theo Ashwood had given up on their dream to find an omega, refusing to participate in the government's oppressive policies. But when the underground anti-government Alliance asks them to help an omega in need, they can't say no. They never expected to meet her—their fated mate.

Suddenly surrounded by alphas desperate to tend to her every need, Josie finds herself feeling things she only dreamed of as a child—love, trust… hope.

But even the protection of her fiercely loyal pack can't stand against those determined to tear them apart.

Forbidden: Part One is a first-person, multiple POV, why-choose omegaverse romance with a curvy FMC and her cinnamon roll alphas. Featuring high-spice MFMM scenes and a suspenseful plot, this book ends on a cliffhanger that is resolved in Forbidden: Part Two.

Really enjoyed this story, fantastic narration, well held together. A bit eye roll in places but I smiled a lot and actually laughed out loud at some points. It’s quite political. Going to buy the second book right now! Thank you

Really enjoyed this

I liked the start of this and thought it was interesting. Fast forward to half way and I’m done. I really don’t connect with the FMC at all, she’s not likeable and the constant put downs of herself along with the fixation on her body is awful. Yes I get that you’re overweight, no I don’t want to hear about it all the time. I feel like at the start of the book she was stronger but that didn’t last long and then she’s turned into a whiny, needy ‘poor me’ type character. I tired listening past it but couldn’t.
The narration I liked but otherwise it wasn’t for me.

Not for me

Ok, I felt I had to leave a review on this book. To start with this story is NOT a regular Omegaverse book. It is angled and very political. I think it should be categorized differently. You should be at least 21 years old to read it. With all due respect to an 18 year old, but they would get PTSD themselves. I want to add that I am writing this with all due respect for writing creativity. It is a trauma book that is hidden under the Omegaverse "designation", to use what is said in the book. The FML is a walking book example of what traces torture and abuse can leave in a person's psyche. She is curvy, which makes her constantly think of it as disgusting, she traumatizes her Alphas with her constant need for validation that is all over the place. And no one is safe. I can't say that I would have wanted to read it now in retrospect. But at the same time I can say that I have to read book 2 to know how it ends. This is not a smut book. Not in a traditional way. So if you want to read a relaxing and light book, this book is definitely not it. Interesting to hear how it ends.

Hiden "designation", or purpose for the book

Okay, so I like the book and I don’t. I think it has a lot of potential, I think the performance of both narrators are great. And I like the overall bar of the story, plot and where this could go. But I’ve got to say, the constant crying, whining and insecurities from the FMC are kinda grating after a while. Il all here for character development and I understand the power of trauma. But damn, it all just gets a little tedious and repetitive after a while, I was really hoping for Josie to really come into her own, and everytime it felt like she had an opportunity too, she just fell back into the woe is me, crying constantly and complaining about being overweight and how her alphas couldn’t possibly pick her. I mean, I really felt for them because they have done nothing throughout the entire first book but be so kind to her and sprinkle her in love, gifts and compliments, and yet she still complains and doesn’t believe it. I dunno. I hate leaving book series unfinished, so I may likely still get the second one, but I’ve got to say, if things don’t change in book 2 I will be so disappointed. Because I don’t hate the book, but the insecurities need to end already and they all just band together and become a power house pack!

It’s okay
