An entertaining paranormal YA romance. The characters are good, but I did want to shake Jules several times to get her head in the game. Cole is a interesting dark character that she is drawn to. There is the typical High school cliques, romances and friendships but with immortals, Fae, vampires, shifters and witches thrown in, and a big overall conspiracy. The writing is excellent, the story is suitably dark and complex. Anya Cosgrove as created an involving and entertaining start to a series. Addison Barnes gives an excellent performance. From the start, Forbidden Magic had me hooked with its blend of magical creatures, intense drama, and a fierce heroine. Anya Cosgrove builds an immersive world at Dark Falls Academy, where mortals like Jules struggle to survive among powerful immortals. The story jumps right into the action, with plenty of tension, magic, and danger.

Jules, a fiery Winslow witch, is the perfect match for Dark Falls Academy’s elite, especially with immortals like Flynn, Trent, and Cole trying to kick her out. The enemies-to-lovers tension between her and Cole, the dark fae prince, is intense and addicting. Flynn, the bully, and Trent, the thirsty vampire, add even more drama and conflict. The pacing is fast, with plenty of mystery and twists, making it impossible to stop listening. The academy’s dark, dangerous vibe and constant surprises make this a thrilling start to the series.

Addison Barnes was great! She brings each character to life, especially capturing Jules' fire and Cole's cold intensity. Her voice is clear, engaging, and really pulls you into the story, making it easy to get lost in Cosgrove's world.

If you’re into enemies-to-lovers, magical academies, or paranormal fantasy, this audiobook is a must. Heads up—it ends on a cliffhanger, so you’ll be craving the next one! Definitely recommend, especially with Addison Barnes’ awesome narration.
