I picked up Flying and Dying on a morning flight out of Europe and had it finished by the time we touched down an oddly fitting way to consume a book so steeped in the world of aviation and mortality. Fit2flya787 has written something that’s more than just a memoir or a pilot’s tale; it’s a thoughtful, often poignant reflection on life in the cockpit and the fine line between routine and risk.

There’s enough technical detail to keep aviation buffs engaged flight procedures, cockpit culture, and the nuances only pilots or aviation nerds might catch but it’s never bogged down in jargon. It’s accessible, well paced, and surprisingly reflective. You can tell it’s written by someone who’s lived every word of it. There a massive “oh shit” chapter that will have you in panic, but… no spoilers.

Highly recommend for anyone with a love for flying, or just a curiosity about what it means to hold lives in your hands at 30,000 feet.
